Hispanic Heritage Month is here! TurboTax is thrilled to join the celebration by highlighting and recognizing the contributions of Hispanics within our own local communities. During September 15th to October 18th, TurboTax is seeking to financially empower Latino self-employed and small businesses impacted by COVID-19 through a partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of E-commerce (HISCEC) and the launch of #Unidos4LatinoBiz, a social campaign that will spotlight small business owners and give back to the community.

The challenges brought on this year as a result of COVID-19 have not left any community untouched. However, Hispanic-owned small businesses and self-employed communities have been disproportionately impacted by this pandemic given that Latino-owned businesses employ more than 3 million people (source: State of Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative). The partnership with HISCEC will provide its members with the tools and education to be more successful and compete more effectively in the marketplace as they pivot their services and offerings as a result of the crisis. The partnership includes:

  • Virtual learnings conducted by credentialed tax and booking experts to provide them with key and applicable information for their businesses
  • Educational custom content to navigate COVID-19 implications
  • Free TurboTax Live Self-Employed product so they can file their tax year 2020 self-employed taxes for free with the help of credentialed tax experts
  • Discounts to Intuit online products, including QuickBooks

Additionally, TurboTax is inviting all communities to honor their favorite Latino-owned business or Latino entrepreneur as part of the #Unidos4LatinoBiz campaign. Beginning September 21st, TurboTax invites the public to nominate their local favorite Latino-owned businesses and/or self-employed individuals who have made a difference in their community during the pandemic. To participate, consumers must share on Twitter or Instagram why they believe their nominee is deserving of the cash prize. Once a week, for four weeks, TurboTax will be giving away $5,000 to a lucky business owner to support their ongoing efforts and $500 to the person that made the nomination. Entries must be received by October 18th.

TurboTax is proud to be able to celebrate Latinos during Hispanic Heritage Month and support those deserving businesses that positively impact their communities every day.
