We know you work hard for your money and wanted to answer some of the most common questions we see about the issuance of tax refunds. Here is a breakdown of how your tax return will progress through 3 stages with the IRS -“Return Received”, “Return Approved”, and “Refund Sent” once you e-file and where you can go to check your refund status so you understand “Where’s My Refund?”: Refund Process Start checking status 24 – 48 hours after e-file – Once you e-file with direct deposit, you can start checking the status of your return 24 – 48 hours after you e-file on the IRS Where’s My Refund tool. Return Received Notice within 24 – 48 hours after e-file – The IRS Where’s My Refund tool will show “Return Received” status once they begin processing your tax return. You will not see a refund date until the IRS finishes processing your tax return and approves your tax refund. Status change from “Return Received” to “Refund Approved” – Once the IRS finishes processing your tax return and confirms your tax refund is approved, your status will change from “Return Received” to “Refund Approved”. Sometimes the change in status can take a few days, but it could take longer and a date will not be provided in Where’s My Refund? until your tax return is processed and your tax refund is approved. Where’s My Refund? tool shows refund date – The IRS will provide an actual refund date once your status moves to “Refund Approved”. The IRS issues more than 9 out of 10 refunds in 21 days or less. Where’s My Refund? shows “Refund Sent” – You’re now closer to your biggest tax refund! If the status in Where’s My Refund? shows “Refund Sent”, the IRS has sent your tax refund to your financial institution for direct deposit. It can take 1 to 5 days for your financial institution to deposit funds into your account. If you requested that your tax refund be mailed, it could take several weeks for your check to arrive. Here are more answers to your common questions about your tax refund: Will I see a date right away when I check status in “Where’s My Refund”? Where’s My Refund will not give you a date until your tax return is received, processed, and your tax refund is approved by the IRS It’s been longer than 21 days since the IRS has received my tax return and I have not received my tax refund. What’s happening? Some tax returns take longer than others to process depending on your tax situation. Some of the reasons it may take longer are incomplete information, an error, or the IRS needs to review it further. What other sources can I use to check my refund status? Once you have e-filed your tax return with TurboTax, you can check your status using MyTurboTax. You can even check your status on the go from your mobile device using TurboTax free app MyTaxRefund. If you haven’t e-filed your taxes yet, you can start today. You may even be able to e-file your federal tax return for free and have your biggest tax refund in your pocket within 21 days. Reply I filed my return on April 4, 2014 and received confirmation from turbo tax that it was accepted and would receive my refund by April 25. It is now September 19, 2014 and still don’t have it. The where’s your refund on IRS page still says being processed, even though I was told a couple months ago by a IRS rep. that it was processed and I would get it by August 20. Please help! I don’t know how to get help with this. Reply The irs says my refund was sent but I never received it. I requested a prepaid debit card and it never came. I have verified my address is correct on the order. What do I do now? Reply If you find anything, Let me know, the same exact thing happened to me. Except I know I didnt choose the debit card option, but they said i did. Reply I filed in march and am STILL waiting on my refund. Received a letter that I would get my refund or additional correspondence from the IRS by may 22nd. Nothing! Called the IRS on may 27th only to be hung up on after waiting on hold forever and then told “your taxes are still being processed”. And that’s all he could tell me. Then he hung up on me when I asked for a supervisor. Ughhhh this is so frustrating! Is anybody else STILL waiting for their refund? Oh, and btw, I did NOT use TurboTax. I filled using TaxAct, as I have the last few years with no problem. Reply I filed at the end of Feb via TaxAct and I’m still waiting. I don’t believe the people that say they talked to a real person at the IRS, that seems to be impossible. I refuse to deal with companies that don’t have humans answer the phone, but with the government that steals my money I don’t have that option. 🙁 Reply I actually did talk to a real person, but it didn’t do me any good. He just told me the same thing the website said. :/ Soooo frustrating, but it’s the government, what can u do. Makes me want to claim 10 on my taxes now so they won’t be taking shit out this yr. Smh. Stop Sent from my iPhone yes I’m still wating on my so called “approved” federal taxes,,which when I keep checking says processing and will give me a date I should receive….STIIIIILLLL waiting since march 16th!! btw ; state taxes filed same day came in a week! go figure Reply I filed using Turbotax on March 31, 2014. IRS accepted the return a few days later. It is now June 14 (9 weeks after accepted) and I still have no refund. When I check the status at IRS2GO, it is “still being processed”. Why is it taking so long or is it a problem with TurboTax returns? Reply What a horrible tax year it has been. File Jan 26th and turbo tax sent it in early on the 28 which they were suppose to wait till Jan 31. Because of that I was push back and irs didn’t review my tax return till Feb 13. To make matter worse i was under review. Turbo tax then sent me a bill of their service fee for basic tax filing of $21.89 because my tax wasn’t here on time for them to deduct it. I ended up paying it out from my bank account first. After almost 5 months I finally got my refund this morning however it wasn’t the full amount because turbo tax charge me a $29.99 bank processing fee….are you serious!! I am definitely going back to H&R block because at least when they say free filing it is actually free unlike turbo tax that always have hidden fee….smh Reply There is comment after comment in regards to speaking with a “live” person at the IRS, but the only numbers given are to the automated system. For those that have spoken to a “live” person please post that number. Those of us that haven’t had that opportunity yet would really appreciate it. Reply We filed through Turbo Tax the first week of April and received our Federal return the last week of April. We are still waiting on our Missouri refund the third week of May. The agency’s website always say’s, “Results The department is processing your return, please allow additional time. The department refreshes the data on this application daily. However, during heavy processing periods, the status of your return may not change from day to day.” Reply Did you ever get it? I’m in pretty much the same boat. Reply I filed my Missouri 2013 Tax in the second week of April. I still did not get refund. Razorwindmo48, have you got yours yet? Reply Where’s my refund Reply May 4th 2014 and still no letter, no refund, no PATIENCE left, very aggrivated. Filed on january 31st. The ”where’s my refund”” site still says we received your return and it’s being process. Waiting over 3 months now. Reply I filed my taxes in January. Spoke to a real person a week ago and finally today the bars are back up saying I will get my refund on 05-13-14 and if I don’t have it by the 18th to call back. You need to call the IRS especially if you didn’t get a letter. Reply So do you think calling them helped??…Did they need more info from you before they would release your check…Did they give you a reason why you haven’t gotten it yet?? There are multiple comments in regards to talking with a live person at the IRS – But no numbers are given to live people. The only numbers given are to automated systems. There are comment after comment with the request for a live person number, that will be the real help here for those of us that are still waiting like others and still haven’t had a chance to talk to a real person yet. Same thing here. accepted on 1/29 and so was a friend’s and nothing yet Reply Is this only happening to people who filed turbotax or electronic filing software online Yes calling did help. A week after I talked to them the orange bars appeared again. I didn’t have to give any more info. It was just stalled or basically overlooked and frozen. I just checked my bank account and the money is there. Reply You are correct! I can tell by the words used by the rep I spoke to that they just put our returns aside for absolutely no reason and then pull them out after the time on the letter elapses AND we contact them. Someone should notify the media about this. I DID contact the white house. Taneighya – did you get interest? Some time calling doesn’t always helped. Like me for example, I called them multiple time and every time I called it seem as though more date get added into. First, they told me 6-8 weeks and when my 8 weeks come up they told 60 days. About a week ago i called again and now they have inform me that the identity theft dept is holding it for 45 day….are you serious. I am so frustrated and i feel like if i call them again more date will get added. Reply same with me the irs accepted my taxes on the 4th of feb called them after 21 days they told me 6 to 8 weeks called them after the 8 weeks now i was 60 days i had to wait had called a tax advocate they said the irs had to releasr my refund by may the 12th but wmr still says still processing so they havent released it yet and i havent receievd it direcct deposit it seems like they are just doing whatever they like with no regards to anyone who really need there money I just called and IRS told me that I have to wait another 45 days for my refund!!!! Disable going to school finally and this what happens. After these 90days, then what? Answer: another 45 days. Filed Feb 23rd. Letter supposily March 24th, no letter no nothing still processing. Reply IN THE SAME BOAT. JUST GOT THROUGH TALKING TO IRS. WAIT ANOTHER 45 DAYS. NO DATE, STILL PROCESSING. FILED FEB 23; LETTER NEVER RECEIVED 24 MARCH – NOTHING Reply The IRS says they sent my refund to my bank on april 23 but my bank says they never received it. The IRS automated rely on 1-800-829-1040 says my return is completed and the refund sent on 4/23 and to contact my bank if there’s an issue. My bank says they can’t help because they never received it and to contact the IRS. Is there anyway to talk to a real person to resolve it? I a getting the run around. At least I spoke to a real person at my bank. I e-filed through TurboTax.Please help. Thank you Reply Here’s my 2 cents worth: 1. People say they actually talked to the IRS, yet give no nbr. It might help a lot of people to tell how you actually got to an actual person. Not with this nbr – 1800-829-1040 2. The nbr they give invariably takes you to the automated questions. Reply I’ve used that same number and get to a person. I always hit option 2 i think it is when it says personal taxes. At this point don’t hit anything that says refund, that’s how you end up in the automated loop. My taxes were accepted 1/28 and I’m still waiting. My second 6 week waiting period ends tomorrow so I’ll cross my fingers and hope that maybe it shows up in my account tomorrow. Reply I called that same number (1-800-829-1040) press 1 for English then I just continue to press 0. I probably press 0 like 2-3 times then they’ll say “sorry we did not recognize your response, please wait while we transfer you to a representative”. I feel like the irs purposely set their phone that way to avoid having anyone get a hold of them. I got to the irs agent because I was frustrated and just keep pressing 0 and I have use that method and I get to a live agent every time Reply Yes – that number does get you to a person. Don’t hit the number for refund. Hit 2 for personal taxes. Then 1, Then 4. You will wait a while but you will get through. Reply Thank you for posting these instructions!!!! Could not find anywhere else after an hour of searching. Now on hold for about 15 minutes… but that’s huge progress! Guess you have to be determined to get the money back that they owe you! 4 months waiting for mine. I filed my taxes on Jan 31st and as of today, I still have no refund. I am also being reviewed. I filed my daughter’s a few days after mine and she had her refund within days. Do all of the people being reviewed have a large refund? I am starting to think they were waiting to get money in on April 15th to pay us. LOL Reply Has anybody not got their refund yet? I am so frustrated with the IRS this year, never have I waited this long and not got my refund….and still waiting. First I was told that my refund was flag for addition review which will take 6-8 weeks. After 8 weeks I decided to call and they told me that every was good and my fund should be release, but they weren’t able to provide me with a date. The agent inform me to check back in a week and I should get a disbursement date. Two weeks gone by and nothing. Yesterday I decided to call them again because I felt a little impatience (file tax since January 31). Now I was inform that I have to wait 60 days from the March 27 till I will get my fund. She told me hopefully you don’t have to wait the full 60 days…I feel like crying… I have a feeling I won’t get my money till probably june …I am tired of calling just about to give up and seeing the money 🙁 Reply Linda I have been under review my 60 days are up tomorrow. I just don’t believe I will get a refund on tomorrow. Be cuz this year the irs is full of bull. I m jus about to give up to. Reply I am in the same boat. Filed my taxes and was accepted Jan 26. Got a letter Feb 24 saying I am under review and to do nothing. My 60 days are up tomorrow. Not sure how much longer I am gone have to wait. Got my state taxes with no problem. Reply I’m in the same boat. Feb 24 I got the 60 day letter and here I am on April 25 with nothing. BTW I filed on 1/31/14. I haven’t gotten mine either. I sent it January 31st. I haven’t even received a letter like most of you. When I check the “where’s my refund” site all I get is “”we’ve received your return and it’s being processed””, It’s been almost 3 months. Reply Well, my wife and I have filed our taxes with TurboTax for 10+ years. I love having all of our returns available immediately. We have been VERY happy and have always received our returns in a timely fashion, with the exception of this year. This leads me to believe that TurboTax may not be solely/if at all to blame here. Filed 1st week of February eFile, and still waiting for direct deposit. IRS system says “Still being processed”. What a joke. Pay your taxes to a country that only wants to take advantage of you. Reply So Like many of you I filled early using turbotax. Mid Jan, which was accepted on the 29th Jan by the IRS, and I am still waiting on my return. Last year the same thing happened, filled beginning of March and got my return on April 25th. This year I got rather impatient with this delay, as I’m owed a large refund, and short of cash while I wait on it. After hours of going in circles, I sent a contact email to turbotax (Which there has been no reply from). After two years of problems with turbo tax, I won’t be using there services again. I mean they were quick enough to take their fee out of my bank account, but the support to help you actually get your return is pitiful. Reply Hi Jamie, Nan, and Beth, First less than 1% of tax returns are audited. Your tax returns are not being audited. They are under review, which also has nothing to do with filing with TurboTax. The IRS states that some tax returns may take longer than others to process, because the IRS requires additional information from you. Please read the IRS update about this filing season: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/Filing-Season-Update Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Every year that I have done my taxes, I usually receive my refund back in a reasonable time. I can’t say the same for this year. It has been the worst. I file since January 24th with turbo tax and it said that my return won’t be submitted in till Jan 31st which is the first day of tax season. However; turbo tax decided to send my return in on jan 28th. To make it worst my return that I supposedly file earlier than anybody in my family is still being process. I have been patience enough so I called them last week since it has been awhile, the rep I spoke with confirm that my review is complete and it said to release my fund. He wasn’t able to provide me with a ddd but he told me in a week i should hear something. So far a little over a week and still nothing. It is ridiculous how long of a wait we had to endure, but the government is so quick to take our money….that money was suppose to help me catch up on my bills and school supplies but I guess I still have to struggle Reply I also have that problem. I filed pretty late actually, I filed early March and the irs says it received my return but it’s not being processed or anything. It’s been more than a month and I filed electronically and that’s supposed to be the quicker way of it. Reply I filed Feb. 7th and my taxes were accepted the same day. Got my state refund back in less than a week but I’m still waiting for federal. I called the IRS and waited for over an hour and a half and spoke to two people for 5 minutes each. This may have happened to some of you, but apparently when I e-filed with TT, my taxes got “kicked out” of the system (for unknown reasons) and they didn’t reprocess then until Feb. 18 and now they are being processed manually. The person said it was being reviewed further even though there was nothing wrong on it and that I should have my refund by April 25th (9 week waiting period). WMR never gave me an update of any sort or a date. He said if I don’t get it by then to call back! I BETTER GET IT BY THEN! I’ve always filed with H&R Block and this year decided to try Turbo Tax. Never ever again. Reply Does anyone have a phone number for info on CT state taxes? Every number I find is for federal. I don’t get a federal refund only state and I filed March 11. Reply I filed my taxes a month ago. We have a very simple return and get the same state tax refund every year. I just found out that my refund was modified. I can’t imagine why. Anyone else have this happen? Reply Filed March 30th. Rumor mill is that Turbo Tax e-filers are being audited, which is why a slower than usual refund or processing response. Has anyone received their refunds in 7-10 working days (direct deposit)? Reply Filled Jan 26 called IRS today as I was told by them if I didnt got the money today April 4. Guess what they told me your taxes audit clear up yesterday and now you have to wait 9 more weeks that will put me on June 6. Called tax advocate they said I have to wait the time IRS is saying and if I dont have the money by then, I will have to file a case throught them againts the IRS. I guess I got to wait. Reply Has anyone used ever used a Tax Advocate? Is so did they help? And what was the outcome Reply yes I have an advocate and I have had faster progress with a nn approved hardship No deposit yet bit hopefully tomorrow Reply I filed on January 24th, still no info on my return. 9 WEEKS!!!! Reply I filled on Jan 26 still nothing. I guess I just have to wait Reply omg. Filed here (just finished) and now all i could think is: “why didnt i read these reviews first?!” oh no, I see so many negative reviews here. first time e filing and thought this would be a fast process but now im nervous. i need my return fast. Reply Hi Barbara, Congratulations on filing your taxes. Don’t worry. The IRS states that 9 out 10 taxpayers receive their tax refunds in 21 days or less. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply yea dont worry Barbara its just us 1 out of 10ers hanging out here….so TTLisa is that your real pic Well I filed and fed was accepted jan 27 and now mine is like everyone else under review. 21 days is BS. I am going back to H and R Block This year I don’t think it matters where you filed, the IRS is raking everyone over the coals with their taxes. 9 out of 10 people that post on here are UNDER REVIEW. Don’t hold your breath on getting your refund back any time soon. Filed 1/24 still under review, audit. I have filed the same way for the last , oh, 6 or 7 years. Because of TurboTax sending in my return before IRS was accepting, along with countless others, it was pulled for review/audit. Good luck, I gave up. Never using TurboTax again. Reply I to was picked out for audit and my husbands returns from all 3 years of using turbo tax just came under audit— i am done here I received my state return a few days after I filed my taxes but I still haven’t received my Federal return. Is it possible to be audited if I already received my state? Reply Last year the irs put the wrong birth date on my taxes and they were getting rejected all of the time. When I called the irs, the ladies said there was nothing they can do for me. The date filed was the 21st, and my birthday is on the 20th. Really? These worthless ladies couldn’t just delete the one and put a zero there? Is our government paying these people and giving them benefits just so they can tell everyone who calls to wait? I mean why even have a help hotline if the people you talk on the phone with can’t even help? Its seems like the only thing they can do is to tell peope to wait Reply I filed on March 11. It is now April 1. Still nothing. On the Where’s My Refund site all it says since day one is that they cannot provide any information. I don’t even have this orange bar I hear people talking about. Why can’t I get any information from Where’s My Refund? Does anyone have this problem with that site? Last year I filed with Turbo Tax as well and had my money deposited in 5 business days. I’m getting a little worried now since I really need this money! Reply Same here, Stacy. I filed on February 24, still nothing. Where’s My Refund keeps saying it cannot provide any information about my refund. So, guess I just have to wait. Last year, I got my refund within 4 weeks. This year, it’s been more than 5 weeks. Reply i dont have a status bar just says being processed and a date will be given to you when available also i always used hr block never had a issue and now i am still waiting since i used turbo tax Reply This was my 1st time also using TurboTax and just like you I normally use H&R Block. This will be my LAST time using TurboTax, it tooled about 6 weeks normally with H&R Block it’s 7-10 days. I finally did get my refund just be patient even though that’s hard to do. It’s a listen learned don’t use TurboTax…. They have something going on and will not tell any of us. We just have to wait unfortunately. It’s really a shame. I know our govt is shaky right now but….. really. This long for a refund. And if it is some kind of new system at least tell those that have theirs ran thru it. Filed Feb 14th Still waiting… Thinking of moving to Canada…………… Reply soooooooooooo I like many of you have been on hold with the irs. I filed Jan 25th, fed accepted jan 28th, state accepted feb 1st. checked wmr Jan 31st to see a message saying my return was received and is under review and I would get a letter blah blah blah…so I got a partial deposit Feb 7th, a letter feb 24th saying I needed to verify claim status, dependents, and eic…I faxed everything in feb 25th…..I received my state refund feb 27th, but still not the eic and dependents portion of my federal refund…I got a letter march 24th saying they received my response (all my fax paperwork) and I should have a reply by 5/11!!!!!!!!! this is legit bullcrap!!!! ive never had this issue before so I called and asked what sparked this and I was told it was a random audit, my kids are 4 and 6 and nothing has changed with my status or them, I asked the man if someone tried to claim my kids and he said no. I filed 60 days ago, give or take their 21 day waiting period ive been on hold for an additional 38 days (in 20 mins) and still nothing and I am being told BY MAY 11th…this is ridiculous we just need to stop paying taxes…then we wont have to worry about this crap there has got to be an easier way! its time for the tax rules to be changed. they need to establish income tiers, and set a certain amount to be paid based on the city you live in and let it be an option for how ppl pay it and be done with it. I live in Missouri everything is high here we pay property taxes DUMBEST INVENTION ever and local and state taxes federal taxes u name it we have to pay it!……#praying for a ddd soon. im really hoping that the 60 day marker will bring some good news! Reply Same exact scenario here, only with my daughter and granddaughter as dependents. I faxed over another 35 pages of info..you wanted it, you got it… and it probably still is not gonna be enough. I am at the point now, keep the refund, go give it to someone who claims “other people’s kids) … I’m so done with them. I have worked 33 yrs at the same type of job, nothing special about my filing status other than I added a dependent. Why not, if I am able to claim them . I shouldn’t have to be put through torture over it. I know so many people who work ‘under the table” in my field, no me I am straight up . I do things by the book…yeah..look where it gets ya… smh… Reply I am under review as well. Having to prove my 31 yr old is disabled. Having to show proof that I am Head of Household and that I provide for my 2 grandkids. I didn’t send in enuff info compared to yours. lol My letter said to allow 30 days from when I sent info in. 30 days I recieved a letter saying they were reviewing my response. I should receive a reply by 06/02/2014. Now I am sure it will be just another letter…… Well at least your letter said May lol. I filed 1/31 received letter from ITS on 2/28 stating that I was being audited and I sent in all of necessary paperwork on 3/7 then received another letter from ITS on 4/7 letting me know that they’ve received said paperwork and that would be reviewing until 6/21 and THEN if I did in fact get my return I would have to wait an additional 6 to 8 weeks for them to cut the check lol now imagine how I feel. Reply IRS lol On 2/11/14 i took my federal taxes to the irs on 3/26/14 i ckecked wmr and irs2go and it says my refund is being processed and a date will be shown soon its been six weeks wat is going on i understand that it take 6 to 8 weeks if yur refund is being mailed But I need to know why it doenst show me some type of date as to when i will be recieving my refund i dont see any bars Or codes can somebody tell me whats going on Reply I filed Feb 10. Have not received my taxes yet. Did anyone file the same day and still waiting? Reply I filed and was accepted on 1/28 and I STILL have not received my refund. I’ve called the IRS 3 different times and they keep telling me to wait. It was caught in a system glitch with many others, it’s being re-sequenced, it’s being processed, be patient, it’s coming, you name it, they’ve said it but at the end of the day, I still have NO REFUND and NO ANSWERS as to why and NO DATE for receiving it in the foreseeable future. Reply feb 26 still waiting Reply I filed in Feb, Said It was accepted Feb 14th. It has said your refund is processing ever since. March 23 and counting. I filed with Turbo Tax and had the fees deducted from the refund. I’m having second thoughts about ever using Turbo Tax again. This sucks. No messages no phone calls, No clue? Reply I filed on Jan 15 and my return was accepted on Jan 25. As of today, status is ‘still processing’. I called the IRS a few days ago, and after being on hold for almost an hour, the rep was only able to tell me that she didn’t see why my return was still in processing. She asked if I’d received a letter, and I told her I hadn’t. She put me on hold for another few minutes, only to tell me to wait another 2 weeks to see if I get a letter from the IRS. So frustrating! This woman works for the IRS but can’t tell me what’s going on, or if a letter was even sent out to me? I’ve never had this issue before, and I’m getting very discouraged. I feel as if I won’t see a dime until after Apr 15. Reply i filed jan 31 still nothing called after 21 days the gave me the same line they gave you…. havent bother to call back because I hate to wait a hour on hold to get the same bs statement I got in feb…..its all bs and although I need it RIGHT NOW….. it only makes me mad so ill get it when it comes Reply Sorry to break this too you but this is exactly what i’m going through. Here’s the kicker. I’m still waiting for last years refund. Over 3000 and all I get is the same generic letter that basically says reviewing your refund. When I call they either say their computers r down or to wait for another letter. Last years taxes were filed Feb 14 2013. Sorry. I see you waiting a long time so don’t hold your breathe. I haven’t filed this year yet. I know I’m getting a refund but figure they will just keep that one too. Lol funny how the IRS is keeping my money. They must be hard up. Silly me wanting to to eat and pay bills. They apparently need it more. Go figure. Reply I filed my taxes 3/3/2014 and they told me i have up to 21 days before my money would be deposited in to my account, but when i check the IRS website its says that mines is still being processed. I dont know what to expect at this point. the notice simply said you would be getting your refund before 3/24/2014 but on the WMR is saying that it is still being processed????? can any on help me! this is my second time filling and i am becoming worried Reply I filed the same day and still. nothing. Any change on your end? I filed my return on April 4, 2014 and received confirmation from turbo tax that it was accepted and would receive my refund by April 25. It is now September 19, 2014 and still don’t have it. The where’s your refund on IRS page still says being processed, even though I was told a couple months ago by a IRS rep. that it was processed and I would get it by August 20. Please help! I don’t know how to get help with this. Reply
The irs says my refund was sent but I never received it. I requested a prepaid debit card and it never came. I have verified my address is correct on the order. What do I do now? Reply
If you find anything, Let me know, the same exact thing happened to me. Except I know I didnt choose the debit card option, but they said i did. Reply
I filed in march and am STILL waiting on my refund. Reply
I filed at the end of Feb via TaxAct and I’m still waiting. I don’t believe the people that say they talked to a real person at the IRS, that seems to be impossible. I refuse to deal with companies that don’t have humans answer the phone, but with the government that steals my money I don’t have that option. 🙁 Reply
I actually did talk to a real person, but it didn’t do me any good. He just told me the same thing the website said. :/ Soooo frustrating, but it’s the government, what can u do. Makes me want to claim 10 on my taxes now so they won’t be taking shit out this yr. Smh.
yes I’m still wating on my so called “approved” federal taxes,,which when I keep checking says processing and will give me a date I should receive….STIIIIILLLL waiting since march 16th!! btw ; state taxes filed same day came in a week! go figure Reply
I filed using Turbotax on March 31, 2014. IRS accepted the return a few days later. It is now June 14 (9 weeks after accepted) and I still have no refund. When I check the status at IRS2GO, it is “still being processed”. Why is it taking so long or is it a problem with TurboTax returns? Reply
What a horrible tax year it has been. I am definitely going back to H&R block because at least when they say free filing it is actually free unlike turbo tax that always have hidden fee….smh Reply
There is comment after comment in regards to speaking with a “live” person at the IRS, but the only numbers given are to the automated system. For those that have spoken to a “live” person please post that number. Those of us that haven’t had that opportunity yet would really appreciate it. Reply
We filed through Turbo Tax the first week of April and received our Federal return the last week of April. We are still waiting on our Missouri refund the third week of May. The agency’s website always say’s, “Results The department is processing your return, please allow additional time. The department refreshes the data on this application daily. However, during heavy processing periods, the status of your return may not change from day to day.” Reply
I filed my Missouri 2013 Tax in the second week of April. I still did not get refund. Razorwindmo48, have you got yours yet? Reply
May 4th 2014 and still no letter, no refund, no PATIENCE left, very aggrivated. Filed on january 31st. The ”where’s my refund”” site still says we received your return and it’s being process. Waiting over 3 months now. Reply
I filed my taxes in January. Spoke to a real person a week ago and finally today the bars are back up saying I will get my refund on 05-13-14 and if I don’t have it by the 18th to call back. You need to call the IRS especially if you didn’t get a letter. Reply
So do you think calling them helped??…Did they need more info from you before they would release your check…Did they give you a reason why you haven’t gotten it yet??
There are multiple comments in regards to talking with a live person at the IRS – But no numbers are given to live people. The only numbers given are to automated systems. There are comment after comment with the request for a live person number, that will be the real help here for those of us that are still waiting like others and still haven’t had a chance to talk to a real person yet.
Yes calling did help. A week after I talked to them the orange bars appeared again. I didn’t have to give any more info. It was just stalled or basically overlooked and frozen. I just checked my bank account and the money is there. Reply
You are correct!
Reply
same with me the irs accepted my taxes on the 4th of feb called them after 21 days they told me 6 to 8 weeks called them after the 8 weeks now i was 60 days i had to wait had called a tax advocate they said the irs had to releasr my refund by may the 12th but wmr still says still processing so they havent released it yet and i havent receievd it direcct deposit it seems like they are just doing whatever they like with no regards to anyone who really need there money
I just called and IRS told me that I have to wait another 45 days for my refund!!!! Disable going to school finally and this what happens. After these 90days, then what? Answer: another 45 days. Filed Feb 23rd. Letter supposily March 24th, no letter no nothing still processing. Reply
IN THE SAME BOAT. JUST GOT THROUGH TALKING TO IRS. WAIT ANOTHER 45 DAYS. NO DATE, STILL PROCESSING. FILED FEB 23; LETTER NEVER RECEIVED 24 MARCH – NOTHING Reply
The IRS says they sent my refund to my bank on april 23 but my bank says they never received it. Thank you Reply
Here’s my 2 cents worth: 1. People say they actually talked to the IRS, yet give no nbr. It might help a lot of people to tell how you actually got to an actual person. Not with this nbr – 1800-829-1040 2. The nbr they give invariably takes you to the automated questions. Reply
I’ve used that same number and get to a person. Reply
I called that same number (1-800-829-1040) press 1 for English then I just continue to press 0. I probably press 0 like 2-3 times then they’ll say “sorry we did not recognize your response, please wait while we transfer you to a representative”. I feel like the irs purposely set their phone that way to avoid having anyone get a hold of them. I got to the irs agent because I was frustrated and just keep pressing 0 and I have use that method and I get to a live agent every time Reply
Yes – that number does get you to a person. Don’t hit the number for refund. Hit 2 for personal taxes. Then 1, Then 4. You will wait a while but you will get through. Reply
Thank you for posting these instructions!!!!
LOL Reply
Has anybody not got their refund yet? She told me hopefully you don’t have to wait the full 60 days…I feel like crying… I have a feeling I won’t get my money till probably june …I am tired of calling just about to give up and seeing the money 🙁 Reply
Linda I have been under review my 60 days are up tomorrow. I just don’t believe I will get a refund on tomorrow. Be cuz this year the irs is full of bull. I m jus about to give up to. Reply
I am in the same boat. Filed my taxes and was accepted Jan 26. Got a letter Feb 24 saying I am under review and to do nothing. My 60 days are up tomorrow. Not sure how much longer I am gone have to wait. Got my state taxes with no problem. Reply
I’m in the same boat.
Reply
Well, my wife and I have filed our taxes with TurboTax for 10+ years. Reply
So Like many of you I filled early using turbotax. Reply
Hi Jamie, Nan, and Beth, First less than 1% of tax returns are audited. Your tax returns are not being audited. They are under review, which also has nothing to do with filing with TurboTax. The IRS states that some tax returns may take longer than others to process, because the IRS requires additional information from you. Please read the IRS update about this filing season: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/Filing-Season-Update Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
Every year that I have done my taxes, I usually receive my refund back in a reasonable time. It is ridiculous how long of a wait we had to endure, but the government is so quick to take our money….that money was suppose to help me catch up on my bills and school supplies but I guess I still have to struggle Reply
I also have that problem. I filed pretty late actually, I filed early March and the irs says it received my return but it’s not being processed or anything. It’s been more than a month and I filed electronically and that’s supposed to be the quicker way of it. Reply
I filed Feb. Reply
Does anyone have a phone number for info on CT state taxes? Every number I find is for federal. I don’t get a federal refund only state and I filed March 11. Reply
I filed my taxes a month ago. We have a very simple return and get the same state tax refund every year. I just found out that my refund was modified. I can’t imagine why. Anyone else have this happen? Reply
Filed March 30th. Rumor mill is that Turbo Tax e-filers are being audited, which is why a slower than usual refund or processing response. Has anyone received their refunds in 7-10 working days (direct deposit)? Reply
Filled Jan 26 called IRS today as I was told by them if I didnt got the money today April 4. Reply
yes I have an advocate and I have had faster progress with a nn approved hardship No deposit yet bit hopefully tomorrow Reply
omg. Filed here (just finished) and now all i could think is: “why didnt i read these reviews first?!” oh no, I see so many negative reviews here. first time e filing and thought this would be a fast process but now im nervous. i need my return fast. Reply
Hi Barbara, Congratulations on filing your taxes. Don’t worry. The IRS states that 9 out 10 taxpayers receive their tax refunds in 21 days or less. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
Well I filed and fed was accepted jan 27 and now mine is like everyone else under review. 21 days is BS. I am going back to H and R Block
This year I don’t think it matters where you filed, the IRS is raking everyone over the coals with their taxes. Reply
I to was picked out for audit and my husbands returns from all 3 years of using turbo tax just came under audit— i am done here
I received my state return a few days after I filed my taxes but I still haven’t received my Federal return. Is it possible to be audited if I already received my state? Reply
Last year the irs put the wrong birth date on my taxes and they were getting rejected all of the time. Its seems like the only thing they can do is to tell peope to wait Reply
I filed on March 11. Reply
Same here, Stacy. I filed on February 24, still nothing. Where’s My Refund keeps saying it cannot provide any information about my refund. So, guess I just have to wait. Last year, I got my refund within 4 weeks. This year, it’s been more than 5 weeks. Reply
i dont have a status bar just says being processed and a date will be given to you when available also i always used hr block never had a issue and now i am still waiting since i used turbo tax Reply
This was my 1st time also using TurboTax and just like you I normally use H&R Block.
Filed Feb 14th Still waiting… Thinking of moving to Canada…………… Reply
soooooooooooo I like many of you have been on hold with the irs. Same exact scenario here, only with my daughter and granddaughter as dependents. I do things by the book…yeah..look where it gets ya… smh… Reply
I am under review as well. Now I am sure it will be just another letter……
Well at least your letter said May lol. I filed Feb 10. Have not received my taxes yet. Did anyone file the same day and still waiting? Reply
I filed and was accepted on 1/28 and I STILL have not received my refund. Reply
I filed in Feb, Said It was accepted Feb 14th. It has said your refund is processing ever since. March 23 and counting. I filed with Turbo Tax and had the fees deducted from the refund. I’m having second thoughts about ever using Turbo Tax again. This sucks. No messages no phone calls, No clue? Reply
I filed on Jan 15 and my return was accepted on Jan 25. Reply
i filed jan 31 still nothing called after 21 days the gave me the same line they gave you…. havent bother to call back because I hate to wait a hour on hold to get the same bs statement I got in feb…..its all bs and although I need it RIGHT NOW….. it only makes me mad so ill get it when it comes Reply
Sorry to break this too you but this is exactly what i’m going through. Go figure. Reply
I filed my taxes 3/3/2014 and they told me i have up to 21 days before my money would be deposited in to my account, but when i check the IRS website its says that mines is still being processed. I dont know what to expect at this point. the notice simply said you would be getting your refund before 3/24/2014 but on the WMR is saying that it is still being processed????? can any on help me! this is my second time filling and i am becoming worried Reply
Where’s my refund said they sent my check on the 5th of March it is now the 21 and still have not received it should I be worried or it just takes that long in the mail?? Reply

Filed in January accepted January 18, still have nothing. Every time I call they just say it’s still being processed, won’t give me any information on an expected release date! So frustrating!! Reply
I filed in January too. Mine status states still processing but my transcript has two dated on it, March 10th processed and March 31st. I’m confused on the whole transcript thing. Reply
Lindsay have you been filing your taxes every year? I am asking because I filed my 2013 taxes on 2/5 and I waited the 21 days and then still no refund so I called the IRS and they told me that since I had not filed my 2011 taxes that my 2013 refund is being held until I file. I was so mad that they waited 3 weeks to tell me that information. I did my 2011 taxes the next day and sent them off on March 5th through certified mail and they received them on March 11th so now I am paying the waiting game….the IRS if full of it!!! Reply

**UPDATE** I filed return on 2-1-14 and was accepted the same day. Recived my state refund on 2-24 DD mind you I paid all my fees upfront to TT. I have been speaking with the IRS which they have told me nothing but it was a error on their part and was sent to UUNPOSTABLE DEPT in which they closed it out on 3-6-14 and sent it back through for reprocessing. Well on 3-3-14 I faxed info on requesting that a Tax Advocate contact me for help. I received a call today from her and was asked to fax over my 2013 W2’s, last 4 paycheck stubs for 2013, 401k info, and my school W2. I faxed all info over to her today because she informaed me that she had reviewed my return and all looked good and she had no ideal of why it has not been deposited to my account. At this point she to me if I had any questions to contact her (which she gave me all of her info) but I should see some movement within the a week or so are maybe even sooner. Will keep you posted. Just checked my account and my deposit has been made. I have my refund already. It was deposited this AM and I had a DDD of 3/19/14.

I paid my fees upfront. Did you do the same? If not you may want to check the third party bank in which they send the money to first. It will be there today so make sure you check it.

Hi DEBBIE, I filed 1-22 and checked this morning and had the same ddd. I really didn’t no how to act. I will say it is ABOUT TIME. THANKS U LORD,.
I filed my taxes in late January. Got a letter to fill out due to I didn’t file in 2012 but I have a nursing license. I didn’t work in 2012 so there was no income to report. Then got a letter stating my return is under review and if in hardship get a tax advocate. I work in home health so I put car repairs as deductions because no car = no work. And since I was putting too much money into an old car. I bought a new one as a birthday present for me and so I can keep working. Why is it taking so long for them to give me my money back? Reply
