The IRS informed us on February 10 that this is a temporary situation and should be resolved in several days. At that time, you will be able to get an expected refund date when you visit “Where’s My Refund.” This is an IRS issue and impacts returns regardless of who sends them in to the IRS. This is not a TurboTax issue. If you have received an acknowledgement of your tax return from the IRS, then the IRS assures us they have received your return and are processing it. Information on the status of your refund will be updated in “Where’s My Refund” once your return processes. This is a temporary situation, and we expect to resolve the matter in a few days. IRS expects the vast majority of tax refunds to continue to be issued within the historical range of 10 to 21 days. Also, please see additional information on this link: The IRS has updated it’s Where’s My Refund site with additional FAQs: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=254102,00.html Good question. In fact, it’s one of the most common questions we get at TurboTax. And no wonder. If you’re getting money back, you obviously want to know when it’ll be in your bank account. While the IRS explicitly states it doesn’t guarantee a specific date for depositing a refund, the general rule of thumb for e-filed returns with direct deposit is this: if you e-file your return by noon Thursdays, you’ll see your refund deposit the following Friday. If you e-filed between Jan. 15 and Jan. 21 and opted for direct deposit, the IRS says it should be in your bank account on Jan. 29. If you chose to get a paper check, that will be mailed Feb. 5. If you want a specific answer, just go to Where’s My Refund? You’ll need to provide some simple information from your tax return: • Your Social Security Number (or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) • Your Filing Status • The exact dollar amount of your refund E-filers can get their refund information 72 hours after the IRS acknowledges your return has been accepted. So, if you e-file your return on Jan. 30 and you’re still waiting for your refund on Feb. 30, you know there’s a problem. Time to give the IRS a jingle. You can get your refund status information by calling 1-800-829-1954 or 1-800-829-4477. I filed and was accepted on 2/7. The first expected return date i recieved from wmr, was 2/28, and then 2/21. For the past few days it has said that my refund will be mailed on 3/2. So, with trying to organize bill payment, i checked again today to make sure nothing has changed again, and now when i put my info in, it doesnt reconize it, even when i enter in the additional info that it asks for, it just says that there is no info to be given. But when i call the automated 800 number, it tells me that the refund will be sent out on the 2nd still??? Has anyone had this same occurance happen to them, or have any in sight to this??? Reply There is so much BS going on with the tax refund delay. I don’t believe anything the IRS is communicating about this I e-filed on Feb. 2. After several different messages on the “Where’s my refund” site, I finally received the date of Feb. 28 for my refund. It’s now Mar. 1 and the message has been “Your return has been accepted and is being processed”. This could go on for an indeterminate time. Reply My direct deposit was date was yesterday. I am concerned because I have never received email from University Bank concerning deposit. how can I be sure if University Bank has my correct info or how long do they hold my money before sinding it on? Reply Hi Emma, I would double check the date on the IRS WMR tool to make sure your date didn’t change. If your funds were sent to the bank it also depends on the time of day they receive it and their own processing times, but they do not hold the funds. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply weres my refund says that my taxes were sent on may 31st yet i call my card everyday and its still not on it. what does this mean? My refund was excepted on January 26,2012 and my DD date was Feburary 14 2012.It’s now February 28 2012 and still no money…what should i do give it more time or call the irs? Reply Hi, Please see this blog with IRS updates http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ and this updated FAQ regarding IRS refund delays http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/iq/Tax-Refund/When-will-I-get-my-tax-refund-/GEN12488.html#staterefundlinks Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply So, really, the IRS is taking its sweet time processing our returns and giving us back the money the government has borrowed, interest-free, for a year. So, really, e-filing hasn’t done diddly for me in terms of getting our money back quickly. That’s just great. Fabulous. Reply I can’t even get it to give me a refund date! This is so annoying, I have been using turbo tax for years and I know it’s not you, but the efile should make it faster. I filed on Feb 8 and it went thru on that date, but will not give me an expected date to be received. My sister in law filed with turbo tax a week or more after me and received hers on Sat. Can’t find a # to call and get a straight answer or even someone to talk to. I have tried both the #’s provided and they give the same information… what can I do to find an expected date, we are at 19 of the 21 days and are concerned. Reply Hi Heidi, The IRS is experiencing processing delays. Please see our support FAQ that may address some of your questions and a blog regarding the IRS delays: http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/iq/Tax-Refund/When-will-I-get-my-tax-refund-/GEN12488.html http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I still haven’t received a response. But, forget what I mentioned above. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN GET A REFUND OF THE $19.99 THAT I PAYED VIA TURBOTAX ONLINE? Both my Federal and State returns have been constantly rejected. I don’t know what’s problem?! At first, I was told it was because of either my AGI pin number or the total amount of income doesn’t match my records that the IRS has on file. I contacted the IRS and obtained my new AGI pin number for my 2011 tax returns – I put in my pin numbers – fixed – but they were still rejected (both my federal and state returns). At this point, I just don’t want to go through with TurboTax anymore. However, I would appreciate a refund of the $19.99 that I payed. Please get back to me ASAP to resolve this, THANKS! Reply Hi Jude, Can you please get into your tax return and click on “Get Expert Help” go to the bottom of the “TurboTax Help Center”, click on the “contact us now” button. You will be directed to a live agent based on your issue. This will be the fastest solution. They will be able to do a live look at your screen to help you. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I was just wondering, I filed my tax return on the 3rd and was accepted the same day, for a long while all I got was that it was processing from WMR and from the irs over the phone. I got a projected date of “by the 6th of March” on WMR but when I called them just now they said it has been completely processed and is scheduled to be sent out to my bank on the 29th of February. Can I trust the date they gave me over the phone or should I just go with the WMR date? Reply Hi Elizabeth, I would hope it is February 29th, but given the delays and date changes that have occurred, I wouldn’t rely on the earlier date too heavily. Also keep in mind when they transmit your refund to the bank it could take your bank extra time to post your deposit. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Update: IRS2GO now says son’s refund will be direct deposited on 2/28. At least I don’t have to worry that the money is floating in cyberspace! Reply Ok so i’ve read more posts than I’d like to admit. My return was submitted and accepted on Feb.6th once wmr actually have me a date it was Feb. 28th then it changed to Feb. 21 which has came and gone. Ok so this is my question, opted for a check via mail and all wmr says is sent/dd on 21st but the IRS refund cycle chart has a two day seperation between when they estimate someone gets dd vs having them mail a check, can I assume a check was mailed on the 21st or is there still that 2 day difference between dd and physical check? Also I dont need to look at their updated return delay info, I already read that a long time ago im just wondering if the date they give on wmr is for both dd and check or just based on dd? Reply Hi Mike, I would go by the WMR date instead of the refund cycle chart, however due to the deposit date changes people are seeing in WMR from the IRS, I would not count on that exact date. I hope you receive your refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply The IRS is something else it was saying the till Friday the 24th then wmr changed and says march 2nd less hope they got the date right this time.and so much for their “historical 10 to21 day average”looks like alot of people are falling well outside those numbers. My taxes were accepted January 18 and STILL NO REFUND as of Feb 23, 2012. It was a 1040-EZ form with no complications. My refund should be by direct deposit. I checked and rechecked my bank account information and it is correct and the same bank account that I have used for the past several years with no problems. All my family/friends, etc. have already received their refunds through other providers even though filing much later–usual 10-21 days after acceptance. Why is my Turbotax refund not forthcoming? Who do I call. The IRS says to contact my provider. Reply Hi Bernice, Sorry for the IRS delay and that you were given the incorrect information. The IRS gave us an update on 2/10/12 regarding the delays so I’m not sure why they told you that. This is an industry-wide issue related to the IRS and it is impacting all taxpayers no matter which providers are used. Please see the IRS update from 2/10/12 http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply TurboTax is a joke. I filed my taxes on January 18. Turbotax claimed the IRS accepted the filing. I never get a refund and when contacting TURBOTAX, I just get responses about IRS delays–including the response from this blog that directs me to a website talking about the IRS delays. HOWEVER, the problem was with TURBOTAX. I finally contacted the IRS today which transferred me to a specific section of the IRS that is dealing with TURBOTAX problems. Seems TURBOTAX did not send my information correctly. Amounts, especially bank account info, was garbled when sent from TURBOTAX. Note, that the Turbotax site has my correct info. I checked and rechecked. However, they did not send the info correctly. According to the IRS, this has been a problem. Call the IRS folks, and get your return resent and request a paper check. Hi Bernice, Sorry, but we have not received any other complaints regarding garbled data being sent and delays were in fact related to IRS processing delays which is an industry wide issue. The information entered on your tax return is electronically transmitted to the IRS when you file your tax return. I am not sure why the IRS agent told you this, but I am glad there was a solution for you. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Just for FYI. Filed and accepted 2/4. No information on WMR for several days. Once info became available, set for DD on 3/6, which is more than 30 days. This morning WMR updated and acknowledged my that my refund date had been changed due to processing delays. But it kept the same DD date as 3/6. This continues to get more confusing everyday…..It’s not that I need the money, but I just want it to be over…. Reply Hi Greg, I know this is frustrating and we want it to be over as well. Hopefully since your date did not change that is the date you will receive your deposit. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply My sentiments also. Accepted on 2/2 and now refund set for 3/6. Guess I’m grateful they acknowledge they have the form. But at this point I don’t trust anything. Don’t they test their programs before putting them in place? This year has been a completely frustrating experience. Reply Hi Peggy, We are sorry for your frustration. We are glad you now have a refund date. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis I dont understand what is going on. I filed my return it was accepted I check where’s my refund and get a date of Feb 21. I call the number provided 1800-829-1954, 1800-829-1040, 1800-829-4477 and they are all automated with no option to speak with someone and all say your refund is being processed and you can expect your refund by no later than Feb. 21 please visit our where’s my refund tool for the most updated information. Then the system says if you have not recieved your refund by this date please contact us. But how do I contact them? I just want to know if there are any issues or anything I should be concerned about. I have not made any plans for the money but it would be nice to know when exactly I can see some funds on my turbotax card. Reply Hi Anthony, Sorry for the delay. The IRS is experiencing processing delays. In addition, due to the fraud occurring industry wide, additional security measures have been put in place on refund cards for our customer’s protection. Please see these updates: http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Due to a significant rise in fraud across the industry, Intuit has put in place more stringent fraud detection and prevention controls to help ensure that only legitimate cardholders receive the refunds they are entitled to on a TurboTax Refund Card. In a small number of cases, we regret that a hold on some cards may impact legitimate cardholders. Please note that the support line included in this article may require some wait time. I hope this helps you. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply My state return was processed on Feb. 15 but the funds have still not been deposited in my card account. It’s gonna be tough to blame this one on the IRS. Wait…let me guess, you’re protecting me from fraud by holding my money and drawing interest on the funds. How many millions of dollars in taxpayer funds are you making money off of? Nothing like interest free loans to make the bottom line look good. I smell a class action in your future. Reply Hi Bob, We are not holding your money. If there was a security hold on your refund card, your money was returned to the IRS and they will issue you a paper check. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Checking many other sites and various blogs, it appears the IRS has been making DD’s every day of the week (at least Monday thru Friday), since processing began in mid-January. I am not concerned about Friday the 24th. Barring the unforeseen (which is risky to say this year), I’m pretty confident the DD will happen. By the way, the DD is directly to MY bank, not via SBBT or the TT debit card. Reply Electronic return accepted Feb. 4. No information on WMR for many days. Get information late this past week that says deposit March 6. That is 30 days. I would expect 21 days at the most….which would be anytime NOW. So what’s up? Reply Filed and accepted on 2/3. Last week the WMR finally semi-worked and also provided the “receive by March 6” date. Given various comments on a number of websites, I was pretty optimistic this date would get “better.” It did. As of this a.m. the DD date shows 2/24, exactly 21 days after acceptance. But exactly 14 days longer than normal!! Reply My comment is gone! I am not sure why the IRS says the 24th for you as I was told they are only depositing on Tuesdays this year unless they are changing that this week due to their delays. If so great. Mine still says should get DD on feb14th \and I had an accepted return 2/5. Hi J Leonard, Please see the IRS update from 2/10/12 included in our blog as well as IRS FAQs regarding IRS delays http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Hi Lisa, I am not sure why I am being referred to the blog, I have already read it ,I was simply letting the others know that this is a common issue and that the date of the 24th may be misleading due to info given to me by the IRS that they do deposits on Tuesdays and have upcoming release dates of the 21st and the 28th. Thank You JLeonard It’s almost as if TurboTaxLisa just copy and paste to every response. I asked questions and never gotten a response. Let me try again. Is there a way I can change my direct deposit from TurboTax Card to mail a check? I’m worried with all the complaints YOUR company has and the association with the TurboTax Card. PLEASE ANSWER THAT QUESTION. Don’t give me a website to look at that doesn’t answer anything. I filed Feb 2, my federal was accepted Feb 2. It is now Feb 16th and I have contacted IRS multiple times to find out that they can’t provide any information. The IRS website doesn’t have any information on my return. WTH! Don’t tell me about the “delay” when my grouping isn’t in the “affected” group of people. I want information, and answers. After all, I am entitled. TurboTax is going to loose so much business after this year because of the lack of communication and finger pointing. Reply Hi Anne, I am only copying answers if people are asking the same questions over again. If you have not received your TurboTax card due to a hold being put on the card, a check will automatically be mailed to you by the IRS. Please see the update on the TurboTax refund card: Due to a significant rise in fraud across the industry, Intuit has put in place more stringent fraud detection and prevention controls to help ensure that only legitimate cardholders receive the refunds they are entitled to on a TurboTax Refund Card. Reply Hi Alan, Sorry you feel this way and sorry about the delay. The delay you are experiencing is something we have no control over. Please read this blog post about the IRS updates we received on 2/10/12. Due to the recent amount of fraud industry wide the IRS is taking extra precautions and checking tax returns more thoroughly. This is an issue we have no control over. http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I filed on feb 5th, 2012 There is no info on WMR Theoretically speaking my return should be DD tommorow but I can not confirm this. Does anyone have a functioning IRS number to talk to a live person that knows whats going on on their end. I mean I know there is an issue but I’d like to know something more than just being lumped in a group of unfortunate mishaps and lostn the dark. Thanks. Reply Hi JPerry, Please see this update from the IRS from 2/10/12 http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply PS. So there is a rumor that Turbo Tax is being investigated due to whatever reason and all accounts are froxen? <<<<insight? Reply Hi Jessica, No not true. Refund cards that have been flagged for suspicious activity have been frozen and are being investigated not TurboTax. There has been fraud industry wide per the IRS update so extra precaution is being taken to make sure claims for tax refunds are legitimate. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Now that the WMR tool is corrected should they be updateing the dates of which to expect your refund. I was at 2/21 now It says 2/14 but didn’t get it, so I am going to assume it will be the 21st with delayst….Shouldnt they be adjusting these dates so that ppl would stop freaking out? Why must they cause everyone grief, stress is a killer! Reply Hi Jessica, Please see the IRS update from 2/10 and the IRS FAQs http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply doesn’t matter what the IRS even says… Turbo tax is still having ridiculous problems issuing refunds via their turbo tax card this year >:( I will NEVER use this service again…. I would still like to know what happened to my refund??? IRS deposited it but Turbo Tax says they’re lying!!!! lol Reply Hi Tina, I am sorry you feel this way. The IRS is experiencing processing delays which may have an impact on TurboTax card users. Here is the IRS update from 2/10 http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ In addition, here is an update regarding the refund card: Regarding questions about the TurboTax Refund Card. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply the “IRS delay”does not apply to me… as I stated the IRS already Deposited my refund in a timely manner , as promised. and My turbo tax card is not a new one either. Turbo tax should really stop blaming the IRS (who Im sure really are experiencing delays for some) and take responsibility for the fact that they messed up something this year causing further delay. Hi turbo tax workers i e-filed on 1/23 was accepted the next day and was giving a approx. dd of the 1st by turbo tax thus being the reason i e-filed, when i checked my wheres my refund status it gave me a date of 2/7 a week later then turbo taxes date. i was ok with the misleading info until the date then changes from the 7th to no date at all. it has had a screen saying your refund has been received and is being processed since the 8th of this month which as of right now is 5 days. is this something you have seen a lot this year? also why is it stated on your tv commercials that you offer free audit protection yet i was prompted to pay for it before check out? lastly is turbo tax offering any refunds to customers like myself who could have filed and waited for a check and got it by now? thank you sorry if i sound rude im just a little worried and kinda want the money that i worked for.. thank you Reply Hi Jeremy, Sorry you are experiencing IRS date changes. Reply Hi C.J. There can be many reasons why your tax refund is short. TurboTax is not one of them. TurboTax would not charge 900 for our service. The Department of Treasury’s Financial Management Service (FMS), which issues IRS tax refunds, has been authorized by Congress to conduct the Treasury Offset Program. Through this program, your refund or overpayment may have been reduced by FMS and offset to pay: * Past-due child support * Federal agency non-tax debts * State income tax obligations, or * Certain unemployment compensation debts owed a state. Please see this link to find out more http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203.html You can call the Department of Treasury FMS to find out if your tax refund was set up for offset or call the IRS at 949.829.1040. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I filed my taxes on Jan 27th and the IRS said that my refund will be deposited on Feb 8th. Well now it is saying that my refund was deposited but I haven’t seen a deposit of my refund. What should I do? Reply Hi Laquanda, Please see the update we received from the IRS on 2/10/12 http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I filed on January 17th 2012 and got approved that same day. It is now Febuary 10th of 2012. I have not recieved any money in my bank account. When I check wheres my refund it just states wait 6 weeks I will get it by then. Whats going on what happened to the 25th of January. Reply Hi John, Please see the updates that came from the IRS today (2/10/2012) on this blog post. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Just a suggestion here. It’s the IRS’s problem but people filed with you so they are going to be asking here. You might want to set up a link from this form to a status page where you explain the IRS situation and keep people updated even if to say that the problem continues and give new expected dates for refunds. A short explanation might be better because the page you direct people to doesn’t really say much. My main concern is not so much that I get my refund immediately although I’d like to get it soon. My first concern when I did not get info from WMR was – Does the IRS even have the return. You’ve stated that “accepted” means they do yet it’s still disconcerting to see the WMR site say they have no record. That’s where a status page that’s keeps people informed of what’s happening at IRS and length of delays and when WMR site is/ is not working that way I can have a better idea of when its really been too long and I should give them a call. The official IRS site is not doing a good job explaining the situation although today their instructions have improved some in that the instructions seem to indicate they will let us know when the length of time they should have had the return is long enough that we should be concerned enough to contact them. And just a comment to those waiting for refunds, you know the goverment messes up so if you’ve got the money spent before you actually get it in your hands that’s asking for problems. Last year I got audited and didn’t get my refund for 8 months. That’s one reason I was nervous about this at first because the WMR does not show they have your return during an audit and I actually did not know that it was being audited until I called them. The letter came a week or so later. Reply Hi Peggy, We were waiting for accurate information from the IRS, which we just received this evening(2/10/2012). I posted the update to the posts everyone is coming in on and I will also be drafting a post. We are working diligently to get you up to date information from the IRS. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Lisa, Any chance you’d consider a job with the IRS? It’s clear the IRS needs a “communicator!” Seems to me the delay, i.e. at least 10 days or more, in posting a missive stating the WMR function is not working is inexcusable. To the “crowd”…go to IRS.gov, click on the Where’s My Refund link, and you’ll see just what Lisa is saying. Again…job with the IRS? My comment is this I am still being charged the same amount of money to efile and supposedly paying for all this faster service and obviously that is not happening. IRS or not turbo tax should not tell people that they are gonna get a quick return since the IRS had already started slowing the return process back in Jan. I filed on the 1st of Feb. and was repeat was expecting my return Feb 8. From what I can tell on the wheres my refund site the IRS is three weeks behind. Not a week. I don;t mind paying fees however all the behind the scenes for this quick return and how fast its gonna be need to be posted on Turbo Tax! Reply Hi Dana, TurboTax has no control over system changes made by the IRS. We also never give an exact day you will have your refund. TurboTax used the IRS refund cycle chart which says those are projected dates based on normal processing. TurboTax had no idea that these types of delays would occur. Please see the update that came to us from the IRS this evening (2/10/2012) that I put on the “Where’s my Refund?” post. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Filed Mine and Fiancé with Tubo Tax got an email saying IRS excepted my return. Then Checked where is my refund site a few days later and was told I would get a deposit on feb 7th. The 7th came and no depoist. On the 8th my fiance’s was deposit . Look at where is my refund for mine and it was changed to: If you file a complete and accurate tax return, your refund will be issued: within six weeks of the received date. my fiance and I are using the same bank. I am stressing out, for I still haven’t seen my refund. I know Tubo tax is not to blam but I would like to know if this something I need to worry about. Reply Hi April, We just received an update from the IRS this evening (2/10/12). Please see the update I posted on this blog post. Don’t stress as everything will be resolved soon and the information we received from the IRS this evening should answer your questions. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Why after 72 hours is there no data on my refund? Is it supose to say something about it do I need to keep checking back? Reply Hi, We just received an update from the IRS this evening and wanted to get the information out to you. Please read the update I included on this post. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I e-filed my tax return on the 2nd of February. When I checked the next day on my status, it showed that my tax return was accepted by the IRS on the 3rd of February..I waited 72 hours, and checked my refund status on the WMR website. I was told that it had no info on the refund and to wait a week. Today is the 10 of Feb, and when I go to the WMR website, it tells me that it has no info on my refund. I should I call the IRS or should I call you guys….I need help Reply Hello everyone, The IRS has updated it’s Where’s My Refund site with additional FAQs: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=254102,00.html We want to quickly share any updates we receive through IRS because we know many of you are still waiting for your refund status and estimated direct deposit date. We really appreciate your patience in this really frustrating time and we’ll continue to provide updates as we receive them from IRS. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Just read what’s on that site and unless I missed something it does not address the problem of the WMR site not finding your return more than 72 hours after it has been accepts. Many of us complaining here are upset because the IRS says it has no record of our return. In my case its been 9 days since my return has been accepted and they don’t acknowledge even having the return. I know its not your problem but they really need to address that situation. Since you sent the return to them it makes may of us wonder if they have the return. Hi Peggy, We just received an update from the IRS today 2/10/2012 which I posted on this post. Please check the update on this post for the latest information we received from the IRS this evening. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis I’ve electronically filed with turbo tax. My return has been accepted according to an email from Intuit. However, when I went to the IRS (Where’s my refund) website, it states they have no information concerning my return. So my concern is, where’s my refund? Oh, and by the way, yes I waited 72 hours Reply Hi Greg, That site has not been working correctly since the IRS updated it’s system. If you received an email stating that your return was accepted, you should not have any problems. The IRS announced that they made changes to their system and they are experiencing processing delays. Please see this link: You can read the IRS update on refund status here: http://content.govdelivery.com/bulletins/gd/USIRS-282378?reqfrom=share#.TyHBCA5GIDY.twitter Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I completed my return via e-file (not by 11am deadline) on Feb 1. It was accepted within 1/2. Yesterday the IRS website “where’s my refund” showed expected deposit date of 02/21/2012. Today, it cannot find it and gives no information. I honestly have never had this happen before, in the many years I have turbotax e-filed. Why would it give me a date before (although later than normal), then the next day cannot find it? Reply Hi Angela, It has nothing to do with TurboTax. The IRS is experiencing processing delays due to updates to their system. Please see the update from the IRS. You can read the IRS update on refund status here: http://content.govdelivery.com/bulletins/gd/USIRS-282378?reqfrom=share#.TyHBCA5GIDY.twitter If your return is accepted, you should receive your refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply ya what the been 12 days ! where the is my refund! passed excpect days! never using turbo tax again!! Reply Hi Amanda, It has nothing to do with TurboTax. This is an industry wide issue that is occuring whether you use TurboTax, a tax store, or another software. We do not accept your tax return or issue your check. The IRS is experiencing processing delays due to changes in their system. Please see the statement directly from the IRS :You can read the IRS update on refund status here: http://content.govdelivery.com/bulletins/gd/USIRS-282378?reqfrom=share#.TyHBCA5GIDY.twitter Sorry for the IRS delay. I hope you receive your tax refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Go TurboTaxLisa! I am sorry you have to deal with some of this people who cannot read or research huge topics that have been going on for two weeks now about the IRS and their delays. TurboTax is the best! I do love how you are doing your best to help you with issues that are not even related to your service. Keep up the good work. – a satisfied customer. Reply Thank you so much. Yes we are trying to help as best we can with something we have no control over. You are right this is an industry wide issue and has nothing to do with TurboTax software and the transmission of tax files. I wish everyone could understand that we don’t accept the tax returns and issue the refund checks. We would love nothing more than to have everyone receive their refunds as soon as possible. In addition, the IRS has always stated on the refund cycle chart that their dates are projected dates based on normal processing. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I Have done everything and now I have to call back tomorrow because even the IRS says it was deposited. The F%^&*^ Card company says it hasn’t Been deposited. YOUR CARD COMPANY says it has NOT been deposited. I SHOULD HAVE received it Feb. First. What I am experiencing IS NOT an industry wide issue but a COMPANY YOU CONTRACTED. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME. I re-itterate I will not be using your joke of a system next year. Delays are always an industry wide thing but when The IRS says it is deposited and the card company says it’s NOT….. Not only that I am STILL WAITING for a supervisor to call me!!!! They told me it would be later today and well look at that! No call. Next to send a letter to the BBB. Reply Hi K.Garcia, There is an issue with the IRS processing refunds late as well as for customer’s protection there have also been additional security measures put into place for credit cards. Please call the the number on the back of your credit card and ask if your refund has attempted to be deposited to your card and if so if it was rejected. They will let you know if it was rejected and what steps need to be followed. Phone number to call 1.866.543.9160 Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply So IRS says deposited on 02/01/2012 as of today 02/08/2012 still not on the card. Called IRS and Turbo Tax AND IRS no problems there and no money on the turbotax card. Not using turbo tax again since they told me I have to call the card. I know the information is correct as my paypal linked to the card no problem with the same information. No thank you turbo tax I will go back to Tax Act next year as they actually work.Yes there are delays but I know people who filed AFTER and BEFORE me that used other companies and have their taxes back. These Delays are TURBO TAX’S responsibilities!!! DO NOT USE TURBO TAX!!!! Reply Hi K. Garcia, We are sorry you have not received your refund, but this is an industry wide issue. If you look at any other tax software company’s blog comments you will see they are experiencing the same issues. You cannot go by other taxpayer’s situations they are all different. The IRS says that their processing times are based on normal processing times. In addition, they experienced delays due to changes in their systems. Please call 866/543-9160 regarding your TurboTax card. If your tax return was accepted you should receive your tax refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Turbo Tax efiled my return on Jan. 31st and I received the notification that the return was accepted by the IRS. It is still not showing up on “Where is My Refund”. It will be an entire week tomorrow. I do not know what I should be doing here! Reply Hi Stephwalt, Sorry about the delay. Please see the IRS links at the bottom of this post regarding IRS system delays. If your tax returns were accepted I’m sure your tax refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Received confirmation that both federal and state accepted on Feb 2 but still when i go to wmr says can not find what is going on i have used turbine tax for years but never had this happen something better be done Reply Hi Jessica, I am sorry about your tax refund. Please see the IRS links at the bottom of this blog post regarding IRS system updates, which caused the delay. This has nothing to do with TurboTax. We do not issue your check. This is an industry wide issue that is occurring whether you go to an independent CPA, a tax store, or prepare using other software. If you tax return was accepted I am sure you will be receiving your tax refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Does TurboTax have a clear explanation from the IRS as to what is going on with “Where’s My Refund (WMR)?” This function is not working and hasn’t worked for over a week. It’s now been six days since my TT filing was accepted, but I have no clue as to when the refund will be deposited. The IRS’s instruction to not check back for “at least a week” is tremendously arrogant.” The taxpayers are the customers and, oh, by the way, we pay the bills! Hi Rick, The IRS is experiencing processing delays. Please see the IRS links in my answers to other comments on this blog post. Thank you, Lisa Greene-lewis ive used turbo tax for many years 1st i feel i was way over charged and 2nd the irs said they deposited on feb 1st and i havent gotten anything next year ill be going somewhere else Reply Reading through these comments was very frustrating. Every question got a slightly altered version of the same copy/paste answer, but the questions were not the same! I realize that TurboTax has NOTHING to do with when the IRS issues refunds. My refund said accepted, the same day I filed. It has been about a week, and “wheres my refund” can’t find the return. Does this mean that the return was not accepted? Was there an error? Do I need to do anything to fix it? Again, my question isn’t about processing delays or when I’ll get my money. Why does TurboTax say my refund had been accepted, but the IRS has no record of it? Reply Hi Barbara, If you received an acceptance from TurboTax, it was accepted by the IRS as well. TurboTax sends information from the IRS regarding acceptance. Information regarding why it is not appearing in “Where’s My Refund?” is given in this update from the IRS http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ I hope you receive your refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I called the IRS yesterday to check my refund status, and some lady stated that my return showed rejected per turbotax on 01/17/2012.This was true, but I corrected the error and TURBOTAX showed my return was accepted on 01/23/2012.The lady at the IRS stated they did not have the updated accepted tax return.HOW COULD THIS BE? WAS SHE WRONG.SHE SOUNDED CONFUSED.I’m confused because when I check the WMR tool it shows my refund should be deposited on 02/07/2012. Reply the irs said my refund was deposited on feb 1st so wheres it at?? i get that they are having problems but i they gave it to turbo tax to deposit on my card on feb 1st wheres it at Reply I’m furious with turbo tax right now too. My issue is with their card they issue. My account has been on lock for no reason. Had to fax off social, drivers license, and proof of address and my account is still closed. On top of that, the IRS shows they deposited the money in the account on the 30th, today is the 6th and I still see nothing. I honestly believe the banks are holding the cash to gain interest. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about green dot (who runs turbo tax cards) on the better business bureau website. I’ll be adding mine as well, and encourage everyone else to do the same. Reply Hi Andrew, Sorry for the inconvenience, but due to the amount of fraud industry wide, TurboTax had to put more security measures in place for your protection. Please see the update regarding refund cards: Due to a significant rise in fraud across the industry, Intuit has put in place more stringent fraud detection and prevention controls to help ensure that only legitimate cardholders receive the refunds they are entitled to on a TurboTax Refund Card. In a small number of cases, we regret that a hold on some cards may impact legitimate cardholders. You can go here for additional information (see Security & Fraud Prevention): https://turbotaxcard.intuit.com/support/faq_turbotaxcard.html. Please note that the support line included in this article may require some wait time. I can assure you there is no intention to hold your money. We just want to protect our customers. I hope you receive your refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Why is every reply the same! I filed mine on the 17 and was accepted on 1/18 WMR stated it was direct deposited on 2/1 and guess what I still dont have it! This is getting really annoying that the IRS which is not even in America, or a true business here, can not give a correct date much less turbo tax, I have used turbo tax for 7 years and never had this issue before. Reply Hi Victoria, I am sorry you have not received your tax refund, but the IRS is experiencing processing delays, which TurboTax has no control over. We do not issue the checks. Reply I received an acceptance email and already got state refund. Federal has still not shown up. Tried to check status and shows not found. Accepted on jan 17th. Wow….. Used turbo tax for many years…. Not happy this year Reply Hi Adam, We are sorry you have not received your tax refund, but we do not issue the check and have to control over the processing of your check. Hello to all and good luck as well. Reply
There is so much BS going on with the tax refund delay. Reply
My direct deposit was date was yesterday. I am concerned because I have never received email from University Bank concerning deposit. how can I be sure if University Bank has my correct info or how long do they hold my money before sinding it on? Reply
Hi Emma, I would double check the date on the IRS WMR tool to make sure your date didn’t change. If your funds were sent to the bank it also depends on the time of day they receive it and their own processing times, but they do not hold the funds. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
weres my refund says that my taxes were sent on may 31st yet i call my card everyday and its still not on it. what does this mean?
My refund was excepted on January 26,2012 and my DD date was Feburary 14 2012.It’s now February 28 2012 and still no money…what should i do give it more time or call the irs? Reply

So, really, the IRS is taking its sweet time processing our returns and giving us back the money the government has borrowed, interest-free, for a year. So, really, e-filing hasn’t done diddly for me in terms of getting our money back quickly. That’s just great. Fabulous. Reply
I can’t even get it to give me a refund date! Reply

I still haven’t received a response. Reply
Hi Jude, Can you please get into your tax return and click on “Get Expert Help” go to the bottom of the “TurboTax Help Center”, click on the “contact us now” button. You will be directed to a live agent based on your issue. This will be the fastest solution. They will be able to do a live look at your screen to help you. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
I was just wondering, I filed my tax return on the 3rd and was accepted the same day, for a long while all I got was that it was processing from WMR and from the irs over the phone. I got a projected date of “by the 6th of March” on WMR but when I called them just now they said it has been completely processed and is scheduled to be sent out to my bank on the 29th of February. Can I trust the date they gave me over the phone or should I just go with the WMR date? Reply
Hi Elizabeth, I would hope it is February 29th, but given the delays and date changes that have occurred, I wouldn’t rely on the earlier date too heavily. Also keep in mind when they transmit your refund to the bank it could take your bank extra time to post your deposit. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
Update: IRS2GO now says son’s refund will be direct deposited on 2/28. At least I don’t have to worry that the money is floating in cyberspace! Reply
Ok so i’ve read more posts than I’d like to admit. Reply
Hi Mike, I would go by the WMR date instead of the refund cycle chart, however due to the deposit date changes people are seeing in WMR from the IRS, I would not count on that exact date. I hope you receive your refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
The IRS is something else it was saying the till Friday the 24th then wmr changed and says march 2nd less hope they got the date right this time.and so much for their “historical 10 to21 day average”looks like alot of people are falling well outside those numbers.
Reply
Hi Bernice, Sorry for the IRS delay and that you were given the incorrect information. The IRS gave us an update on 2/10/12 regarding the delays so I’m not sure why they told you that. This is an industry-wide issue related to the IRS and it is impacting all taxpayers no matter which providers are used. Please see the IRS update from 2/10/12 http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
TurboTax is a joke.
Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis
Just for FYI. Reply
Hi Greg, I know this is frustrating and we want it to be over as well. Hopefully since your date did not change that is the date you will receive your deposit. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
My sentiments also. Accepted on 2/2 and now refund set for 3/6. Guess I’m grateful they acknowledge they have the form. But at this point I don’t trust anything. Don’t they test their programs before putting them in place? This year has been a completely frustrating experience. Reply
Hi Peggy, We are sorry for your frustration. We are glad you now have a refund date. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis
I dont understand what is going on. Reply
Hi Anthony, Sorry for the delay. The IRS is experiencing processing delays. In addition, due to the fraud occurring industry wide, additional security measures have been put in place on refund cards for our customer’s protection. My state return was processed on Feb. Reply
Hi Bob, We are not holding your money. If there was a security hold on your refund card, your money was returned to the IRS and they will issue you a paper check. Checking many other sites and various blogs, it appears the IRS has been making DD’s every day of the week (at least Monday thru Friday), since processing began in mid-January. I am not concerned about Friday the 24th. Barring the unforeseen (which is risky to say this year), I’m pretty confident the DD will happen. By the way, the DD is directly to MY bank, not via SBBT or the TT debit card. Reply
Electronic return accepted Feb. 4. No information on WMR for many days. Get information late this past week that says deposit March 6. That is 30 days. I would expect 21 days at the most….which would be anytime NOW. So what’s up? Reply
Filed and accepted on 2/3. Reply
My comment is gone! I am not sure why the IRS says the 24th for you as I was told they are only depositing on Tuesdays this year unless they are changing that this week due to their delays. If so great. Mine still says should get DD on feb14th \and I had an accepted return 2/5.

Hi Lisa, I am not sure why I am being referred to the blog, I have already read it ,I was simply letting the others know that this is a common issue and that the date of the 24th may be misleading due to info given to me by the IRS that they do deposits on Tuesdays and have upcoming release dates of the 21st and the 28th. Thank You JLeonard
It’s almost as if TurboTaxLisa just copy and paste to every response. Reply
Hi Anne, I am only copying answers if people are asking the same questions over again. I filed on feb 5th, 2012 There is no info on WMR Theoretically speaking my return should be DD tommorow but I can not confirm this. Does anyone have a functioning IRS number to talk to a live person that knows whats going on on their end. Hi Jessica, No not true. Refund cards that have been flagged for suspicious activity have been frozen and are being investigated not TurboTax. There has been fraud industry wide per the IRS update so extra precaution is being taken to make sure claims for tax refunds are legitimate. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
Now that the WMR tool is corrected should they be updateing the dates of which to expect your refund. I was at 2/21 now It says 2/14 but didn’t get it, so I am going to assume it will be the 21st with delayst….Shouldnt they be adjusting these dates so that ppl would stop freaking out? Why must they cause everyone grief, stress is a killer! Reply

Hi Tina, I am sorry you feel this way. The IRS is experiencing processing delays which may have an impact on TurboTax card users. the “IRS delay”does not apply to me… as I stated the IRS already Deposited my refund in a timely manner , as promised. and My turbo tax card is not a new one either. Turbo tax should really stop blaming the IRS (who Im sure really are experiencing delays for some) and take responsibility for the fact that they messed up something this year causing further delay.
Hi turbo tax workers i e-filed on 1/23 was accepted the next day and was giving a approx. dd of the 1st by turbo tax thus being the reason i e-filed, when i checked my wheres my refund status it gave me a date of 2/7 a week later then turbo taxes date. i was ok with the misleading info until the date then changes from the 7th to no date at all. it has had a screen saying your refund has been received and is being processed since the 8th of this month which as of right now is 5 days. is this something you have seen a lot this year? also why is it stated on your tv commercials that you offer free audit protection yet i was prompted to pay for it before check out? lastly is turbo tax offering any refunds to customers like myself who could have filed and waited for a check and got it by now? thank you sorry if i sound rude im just a little worried and kinda want the money that i worked for.. thank you Reply

Hi C.J. Just a suggestion here. Reply
Hi Peggy, We were waiting for accurate information from the IRS, which we just received this evening(2/10/2012). I posted the update to the posts everyone is coming in on and I will also be drafting a post. We are working diligently to get you up to date information from the IRS. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
Lisa, Any chance you’d consider a job with the IRS?
Reply
Hi Dana, TurboTax has no control over system changes made by the IRS. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
Filed Mine and Fiancé with Tubo Tax got an email saying IRS excepted my return. Reply

I e-filed my tax return on the 2nd of February. I should I call the IRS or should I call you guys….I need help Reply
Hello everyone, The IRS has updated it’s Where’s My Refund site with additional FAQs: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=254102,00.html We want to quickly share any updates we receive through IRS because we know many of you are still waiting for your refund status and estimated direct deposit date. We really appreciate your patience in this really frustrating time and we’ll continue to provide updates as we receive them from IRS. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
Just read what’s on that site and unless I missed something it does not address the problem of the WMR site not finding your return more than 72 hours after it has been accepts.
Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis
I’ve electronically filed with turbo tax. My return has been accepted according to an email from Intuit. However, when I went to the IRS (Where’s my refund) website, it states they have no information concerning my return. So my concern is, where’s my refund? Oh, and by the way, yes I waited 72 hours Reply
Hi Greg, That site has not been working correctly since the IRS updated it’s system. If you received an email stating that your return was accepted, you should not have any problems. The IRS announced that they made changes to their system and they are experiencing processing delays. Please see this link: You can read the IRS update on refund status here: http://content.govdelivery.com/bulletins/gd/USIRS-282378?reqfrom=share#.TyHBCA5GIDY.twitter Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
I completed my return via e-file (not by 11am deadline) on Feb 1. Reply

Thank you so much. Yes we are trying to help as best we can with something we have no control over. In addition, the IRS has always stated on the refund cycle chart that their dates are projected dates based on normal processing. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
I Have done everything and now I have to call back tomorrow because even the IRS says it was deposited. Reply
Hi K.Garcia, There is an issue with the IRS processing refunds late as well as for customer’s protection there have also been additional security measures put into place for credit cards. So IRS says deposited on 02/01/2012 as of today 02/08/2012 still not on the card. Reply
Hi K. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply

Hi Jessica, I am sorry about your tax refund. Please see the IRS links at the bottom of this blog post regarding IRS system updates, which caused the delay. This has nothing to do with TurboTax. If you tax return was accepted I am sure you will be receiving your tax refund soon. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
Does TurboTax have a clear explanation from the IRS as to what is going on with “Where’s My Refund (WMR)?” This function is not working and hasn’t worked for over a week.
Thank you, Lisa Greene-lewis
ive used turbo tax for many years 1st i feel i was way over charged and 2nd the irs said they deposited on feb 1st and i havent gotten anything next year ill be going somewhere else Reply
Reading through these comments was very frustrating. Reply
Hi Barbara, If you received an acceptance from TurboTax, it was accepted by the IRS as well. I called the IRS yesterday to check my refund status, and some lady stated that my return showed rejected per turbotax on 01/17/2012.This was true, but I corrected the error and TURBOTAX showed my return was accepted on 01/23/2012.The lady at the IRS stated they did not have the updated accepted tax return.HOW COULD THIS BE? WAS SHE WRONG.SHE SOUNDED CONFUSED.I’m confused because when I check the WMR tool it shows my refund should be deposited on 02/07/2012. Reply
the irs said my refund was deposited on feb 1st so wheres it at?? i get that they are having problems but i they gave it to turbo tax to deposit on my card on feb 1st wheres it at Reply
I’m furious with turbo tax right now too. Reply
Hi Andrew, Sorry for the inconvenience, but due to the amount of fraud industry wide, TurboTax had to put more security measures in place for your protection. Please see the update regarding refund cards: Due to a significant rise in fraud across the industry, Intuit has put in place more stringent fraud detection and prevention controls to help ensure that only legitimate cardholders receive the refunds they are entitled to on a TurboTax Refund Card. Why is every reply the same!
