Why Haven’t I Received My Second Stimulus Check?

UPDATE – January 11th

We know that some tax filers affected by the IRS error have not yet received their stimulus payment. We want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to get you your stimulus payment as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, for some tax filers stimulus payments are still at the IRS.  Without the IRS releasing these funds to us, we do not have a way to get your payment to you. The IRS will need to re-issue your stimulus payment.

According to the IRS, stimulus payments are expected to be deposited into bank accounts by the end of January. You can read the full IRS statement here

If you are a TurboTax customer in this group, you should have received an email from us notifying you of the situation. We will continue to reach out with new information.

We know how important these funds are for so many Americans and we continue to advocate on your behalf with the IRS.

UPDATE – January 8th

We are happy to share that stimulus payments will begin to be deposited on January 8th for millions of our customers affected by the IRS error.  We expect most of these payments to be available that day, but banks could take a few business days to process. Payment will be deposited into the same bank account that customers received their 2019 tax refund.

Customers receiving a stimulus payment will receive an email from TurboTax informing them of the deposit.

We have been working tirelessly with the Treasury and IRS to get stimulus payments to our customers.  We know how important these funds are for so many Americans and we regret that an IRS error caused a delay.

We appreciate your patience as these payments are processed.  This update may not immediately be reflected in the IRS Get My Payment tool.

For more information visit our FAQ here.

The IRS recently began issuing a second round of stimulus payments to those eligible. Unfortunately, because of an IRS error, millions of payments were sent to the wrong accounts and some may not have received their stimulus payment.

We have been working tirelessly on a solution with the Treasury and the IRS. As a result, our expectation now is that within days the error will be corrected and stimulus payments will begin being deposited into the correct bank accounts. We have also re-confirmed with the IRS that they have all of the correct banking information for our customers.

We know how important these funds are for so many Americans and that everyone is anxious to get their money, now more than ever.

We will keep you updated on our efforts, and we will stay on this until you get your money.

  1. I’ve been using TurboTax since it’s inception. I’ve never needed a hand from anyone until right now, got covid directly after Christmas and it left me between a rock and a hard place financially. The second stimulus payment would have carried me through this gap in earnings perfectly, as intended. I will never use TurboTax again, and I’ll never suggest their products as I have in the past.

  2. Anyone have payment status not available and actually receive their money? Turbo tax said they were fixing their errors… does this include us?

      • Yes it was I’m one of you guys but turbo tax message update yesterday that it will sending payment today they already fix the problems the payment will be sent out today and it depends on your bank I got mind today finally and thanks turbo tax for your efforts to fix the problem

  3. This is very frustrating. Turbo Tax says they are working on it. IRS says they will not be issuing further payments. I am a six year customer. Generic statements don’t cut it! You have lost me as a customer!!!

  4. I think that TurboTax couldn’t have planned for this and hindsight is always a bummer . I think I will pay upfront to have my taxes done in the future . Than I don’t create a scapegoat for these unfortunate glitches . This isn’t turbo tax fault the government has know. For sometime they were gonna wait until the end of the fiscal year to send out stimulus checks . It’s a good time to disperse money to people , because it’s a slow time of year . I think we need to be a little more open minded . I still value Turbo Tax services

  5. What is wrong with everyone? Has everyone become dense? Did any of you all read the Turbotax statements? You really believe our government over a company that is based off of customer satisfaction? Wake up! It’s this type of ignorant mob mentality that causes events like what happened in the Capitol. Seriously, calm down. If you don’t have your money by the 15th, then raise hell. But to blame a company for something they apparently had no control over, AND who took the initiative to fix the problem, is foolish. We were owed explanations and we received them.

  6. I’ll never use Turbo Tax again. I have used Turbo Tax for years and they should send us our payment even if the IRS made a mistake. I suggest as soon as we can update our bank information for the 3rd stimulus we do so and change it from the account that was used for Turbo Tax.

  7. You guys are insensitive crooks. You’re blaming irs while they’re blaming you. You don’t have definitive answers to our where my money is. All I know is that I’m not ever doing business here again.

  8. I have used TurboTax for 8 years. I got the first check with no issues, but not this time -“Not available” when I check the site. It infuriates me to find out it is because of the company I PAID to file my taxes. If I don’t see that money in my bank by the 15th- I will no longer use TurboTax. Ridiculous- get it together!

    • I received mines today n on the irs page says no statues available I use chime at it at 4:30 it got sent them at 2pm deposited at 4ish

  9. IRS says we have to file taxes but turbo tax says they are working on this. Which is it? What if I am not filing taxes?

  10. This absolutely crazy just got a email same verbiage they working on it but seems like turbo tax just want to place blame on IRS …unhappy customer

  11. Got the email from TurboTax saying the deposits will be coming on the 8th when I check the irs wee sure it says payment #2 status not available still confused if I have to claim on my tax refund or wait and see if they deposit it

  12. Add me to the list of people taking their business elsewhere this year if we have to file taxes in order to get the money we desperately need NOW.

  13. new email from turbo tax:

    “Dear Valued TurboTax Customer,

Great news, your stimulus payment is on the way!

We are happy to share that stimulus payments will begin to be deposited starting January 8th. We expect most payments to be available that day, but your bank could take a few business days to process. Your payment will be deposited into the same bank account that you received your 2019 tax refund.

We have been working tirelessly with the Treasury and IRS to get your stimulus payment to you. We know how important these funds are for so many Americans and we regret that an IRS error caused a delay in you receiving your stimulus payment. “

well its Jan. 8th and irs wheres my stimulus tool still says “no info available”
sounds like another patronizing technique in hopes to not lose customers. Contradicting statements from turbo tax and the irs. im just confused now….

  14. Completely agree, the communication is so inconsistent…it’s making me have more doubt in your company and I have been with you for 8 years, if this isn’t made right and I get my money, I’m gone.

  15. Let’s go Turbo Tax staff !!! pull through for America and carry the irs on your back while doing it. Atleast Turbo got our backs. Thank You all at Turbo Tax for doing the most in America’s time of need .

    -Loyal Customer

  16. If I have to wait to claim my second stimulus chiefly when I file my 2020 taxes guess who I will NOT be doing it with… YOU! As will everyone else that isn’t getting the money they are owed on time!

  17. If I do not get my stimulus either today or tomorrow I will no longer user your service to file taxes. Which is unfortunate because I’ve been using TurboTax for years, but now I can’t trust you as a company. Checks are being sent out today yet irs still shows no payment available…. their website said that the credit will have to be claimed on 2020 returns. So which is it? You sending us our money or blowing smoke up or behinds?

  18. If Turbo Tax doesn’t correct this issue I will never use Turbo Tax again. Turbo Tax you need to resolve this ASAP people are really ruining your reputation.

    • Most definitely they have my information from the first check what’s the problem now I think imma do my taxes somewhere else I want my money and they talking about a third one this mite continue…

  19. Are most of you seeing the status not available when you check status using the GET MY PAYMENT tool?

I’m a Turbo tax customer just wondering because what I’ve read from the IRS states that that message means you want receive the 2nd stimulus that you’ll be required to claim it when filing your 2020 return.

But then I see all these affecting TURBO tax customers so which is it did my deposit go to the wrong account or will I have to claim it on my tax return.

    Anyone have any thoughts

  20. I have been a Turbo Tax customer for four years, bank account is still the same. My address is the same. What is going on? Or is this an excuse for something else? A very dissatisfied tax customer.

  21. Everyone take notice, the line about “our expectation now is that within days the error will be corrected and stimulus payments will begin being deposited into the correct bank accounts” was also on a post about this from December, word for word. Apparently this must not be the case.

  22. Why are you telling us that you are working on the issues to get your customers their money, and the IRS is saying that we have to wait and claim it when we file our 2020 taxes? Which is it? I’ve been a TurboTax customer for years. You need to right this wrong pretty quick or your company will suffer like the rest of those who were counting on their stimulus. Fix it. And fix it like, yesterday.

  23. Where is my money? If the IRS sent it and turbo tax did something to it they should have to make it right and pay me the money that owed.

  24. This is vague. Am I affected? Are you working on it? I got the first one fine, what’s the issue this time? Do I have to file my 2020 taxes to get this one? I have more questions than answers from TurboTax and the IRS. This all seems a little too planned.

  25. So many people have actually spoken directly to the IRS. They WILL NOT be reissuing a deposit or paper check if Payment 2 shows unavailable. If we can find that out, I know Turbo Tax is aware. This company made that statement to pacify us, give false hope to those that really counting on the direct payment. We will have to file this in our 2020 taxes and I hope everyone doesn’t get screwed again. They definitely lost this 8 year customer! Shame on you Turbo Tax for not being transparent and honest.

  26. Never using TurboTax again. H&R Block had no problem getting the money to their customers account and TurboTax only pretended to give a crap one they realized how much business they would stand to lose if they didn’t make a BS statement that doesn’t match at all what the IRS is saying. Money grubbing jerks!

  27. I got the first stimulus check in April no problem by direct deposit. Why all the sudden is there problems sending to the same account as I had in April. Irs is also saying the tool “Get my payment” it gives you the message that it has no information that means you’re not getting a stimulus check and you have to file a credit on your taxes. All of this is bull!

  28. I have been a customer for 8 years now. If this isn’t corrected I will also take my business elsewhere and tell all my friends and family to take their business elsewhere. This is ridiculous! People’s lives are not games!

  29. In some way Turbo Tax has to be involved in this duechbaggery of the highest level. I’ve had my tax refunds deposited to the same account for at least 7 years and the first stimulus went to the same account with no problem. Now they want us to hurry up and e file our taxes are they kidding? Sorry but why should I trust my refund will make it to the right account if the second stimulus didn’t. Turbo Tax is just helping the IRS straighten this out cause they have nothing better to do? I don’t think so

  30. The IRS made the mistake by sending these payments out to HR block and turbo tax, just remember it’s the IRS who made the mistake not turbo tax. I’ve been filing my taxes with turbo for 10 years now never had issues till IRS decided to mess up!!

    • Hi Veronica,

Thank you for being a valued TurboTax Customer. We know how important these stimulus funds are to you and many Americans and that everyone is anxious to get their money, now more than ever.

  31. What happened was , turbo tax opens accounts for people that don’t pay there fee at the time of the tax filing so they can take there fee out of that account. Well that is the account that the irs sent it too!! I only have one bank account so why was it sent to another one. That is the only explanation.

  32. I haven’t received the email that many people are getting assuring them that their money will be deposited soon. I filed with TurboTax and paid my filing fees with my refund. If someone could please confirm that everyone in this situation and not just those who received the email will be receiving their money in the near future that would be appreciated, thank you.

  33. Since this is an “error” all on parties involved, Turbo Tax should be providing an update daily. I would like to read how they are progressing with the IRS. It will take more then just one statement for me. Just, how I am asked to check on my payment status, I suggest that Turbo Tax does the same. You should be providing your customer’s with the service we pay for!

  34. This doesn’t give us much info to work with. It’s a huge problem. Why don’t you just have a normal customer service number?

  35. So if it says unavailable does that still mean if there’s a chance that we will get a direct deposit in our bank account?

  36. Never filing with TurboTax or H&R Block again after this if I have to wait to receive credit for it on my taxes in a couple months!!!

  37. I Just Want To Know When I’m Going To Get My Direct Deposit.. Nothing Changed On My End, Everything Is Still The Same And I’m Not Understanding Why This Is Even Happening..

  38. This is very frustrating! How come the first payment last April was sent out with no issues and now there are issues? How does that happen? I can’t get any updates and have no idea if/when I’ll get the money. Someone owes us an explanation and a timeline of when these “issues” will be resolved. This wouldn’t fly if the tables were turned.

  39. This is theft.
    Plain.
    Simple.
As many have stated – how can MILLIONS receive timely deposits with the first stimulus (when the entire process was new, confusing and much more complicated) ……yet, they the EXACT same process the SECOND time around billions of dollars are “misplaced”.
    Is the IRS robbing us?
    Is Intuit/Turbo Tax defrauding us?
Was this simply to collects millions in interest over a two week period?
If someone files a class action law suit PLEASE let the rest of us know. I am seriously considering it as I type!!!!

  40. Where’s the IRS’ statement on this? It’s sad that TurboTax is saying this and the IRS is saying something else. What is it?!

  41. My parents, my younger sister, & my grandmother got there’s and everyone I’ve talked to but haven’t gotten mine yet. Both of my parents use TurboTax and I use it as well and they got there’s on time and haven’t gotten mine. Hopefully I’ll let mine soon ugh…

  42. TurboTax(Intuit), thanks for working on this. You announced that payments will be deposited into our accounts within the next few days – I hope this is true. I’m monitoring very closely. What is done over the next few days will aid my decision of whether to continue my 15+ years as a customer – or seek tax services elsewhere.

  43. I believe this is an IRS issue. Maybe it was a way to gain a few days/weeks interest on a whole lotta dollars. The IRS had the correct info on my 1st stimulus deposit. Why would they disregard the latest information and send it to the closed account? They are not stupid and know how the systems work with tax prep. Not at all pleased with this. Just another lie.
