Where’s My Tax Refund? How to Check Your Refund Status

Read the Article

The average direct deposit tax refund was close to $3,100 last tax season, and with tax season well underway, it’s no surprise that the most common tax season-related question we’re now hearing is: “Where’s my refund?”

The time it takes the IRS to process your tax refund is based on how you chose to file your tax return – either e-file or by mail.

  • E-filed tax returns with direct deposit: E-file with direct deposit is the fastest way to get your federal tax refund. Typically, the IRS expects to issue most tax refunds within 21 days after acceptance if there are no issues.
  • Mailed paper returns: Avoiding a paper return is more important than ever to avoid refund delays, if possible. The IRS cautions if you need your refund quickly do not file on paper. Usually, the IRS says to allow 4 weeks before checking the status of your refund, and that refund processing can take 6 to 8 weeks from the date the IRS receives your return.

Tax Refund Processing

  • Start checking status 24 – 48 hours after e-file: Once you have e-filed your tax return, you can check your status using the IRS Where’s My Refund? tool. You will need your Social security number or ITIN, your filing status, and your exact refund amount.
  • Return Received Notice within 24 – 48 hours after e-file: The IRS Where’s My Refund? tool will show “Return Received” status once they begin processing your tax return. You will need the following information when checking refund status: Social security number or ITIN, your filing status, and your exact federal tax refund amount shown on the tax return. You will not see a tax refund date until the IRS finishes processing your tax return and approves your tax refund.
  • Status change from “Return Received” to “Refund Approved”: Once the IRS finishes processing your tax return and confirms your tax refund is approved, your status will change from “Return Received” to “Refund Approved.” The change in status can take a few days, and a tax refund date will not be provided in Where’s My Refund? until your tax return is processed and your tax refund is approved.
  • Where’s My Refund? tool shows refund date: The IRS will provide a personalized refund date once your status moves to “Refund Approved.”
  • Where’s My Refund? shows “Refund Sent”: If the status in Where’s My Refund? shows “Refund Sent,” the IRS has sent your tax refund to your financial institution for direct deposit. It can take 1 to 5 days for your financial institution to deposit funds into your account. If you opted to receive your tax refund via mail, it could take several weeks for your check to arrive.

You could experience delays in receiving your tax refund if your return:

  • Includes errors – The IRS has indicated that your refund could be delayed if the information you provided on your tax return does not match the IRS records.
  • Is incomplete – If you didn’t have all of your documents and filed an inaccurate return
  • Needs further review in general
  • Is affected by identity theft or fraud
  • Includes Earned Income Tax Credit or an Additional Child Tax CreditUnder the Path Act, the IRS cannot issue a refund that includes the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit before mid-February.
  • Includes a Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation PDF, which could take up to 14 weeks to process

Tax Refund Status FAQ

Will I see a date right away when I check the status in “Where’s My Refund”?

The IRS Where’s My Refund? tool will not give you a date until your tax return is received, and processed, and your tax refund is approved by the IRS.

It’s been longer than 21 days since the IRS has received my tax return, and I have not received my tax refund. What’s happening?

Some tax returns take longer than others to process depending on your tax situation. Some of the reasons it may take longer include incomplete information, an error, or the IRS may need to review it further.

I requested my money be automatically deposited into my bank account, but I was mailed a check. What happened?

The IRS is limiting the number of direct deposits that go into a single bank account or prepaid debit card to three tax refunds per year. Your limit may have been exceeded. In addition, for a small number of returns, the IRS decides there may be indications that the bank account on the return is suspicious and they may decide to issue a check instead.

  1. My refund was accepted on 2/3 and still no refund. WMR says processing and as of 2/23 my transcript had nothing. I called on Feb 26 They told becuase I filed bankruptcy last year there was a delay. She said everything is good to go, it was processed on the 18th but I will get a check instead of direct deposit. The check has been printed but not sent out. I looked on my transcript last night and now I have a 840 refund issues on 2/19/15. Any idea how long it would take to get it in the mail now?

  2. I completed my taxes on your free web site on February 12, 2015. And still have not received notice from the IRS. What is happening?

  3. Hey i efiled my taxes on feb.3 it got accepted right away well today its saying still processing i recieved a letter saying it may take up to 60 days to receive my refund it needs further review whats going on

  4. 5. We filed our taxes on January 26th and was accepted on January 26th. I still have yet to receive our taxes. I called the Identity theft hot line after the system did not let me pull my transcript. We were victims in 2012 (It was a nightmare took a year to receive our refund). When I called the gentleman said we are under review and that we should receive our refund by March 20th? That is about 8 weeks since I filed. He advised me not to call back unless it has passed that time. There is still a possibility we might get it sooner, which I doubt. Is anybody else going through this? I fear that it might take longer. Please help is anybody is going through this? The where is my refund says it’s processing and we will have a refund date available etc. It shows our refund amount, status but not tax topic number.

    • I Filed My Taxes On January 27th Its Been A Month Today & I Still Havent Recieved My Taxes Yet ( Is It Because My Identity Was Stolen Last Year)

    • It’s been more than 3 weeks since I’ve filed electronically, and it’s stating to the effect of ‘a date will be provided when available’ on mine too. ‘rumor has it’ that there was an error involving an accounting issue between the affordable care act and IRS, which has caused delays across the board. Not to mention the typical cutting of staff down to the bare bones more and more, year after year. 🙁 I guess it will be sent when it will be sent.

    • I’m going through the same thing. My refund was received on Jan 23rd. And it is almost March 1st and nothing. After being on hold for an hour and 45 mins the IRS couldn’t tell me anything. Its beyond ridiculous.

    • Listen I been waiting over 35 days but my status has changed to approve just be patient if your has changed to receive and its processed you should see your bars come back within 14 days or less

    • The same thing happened to me. I was flagged for identity theft in 2012 also, after I received my letter that year I called the IRS and gave them the info requested and within 2-3 days I had my refund. Now this year it went over 21 days and I called and talked to a real nice lady on 2/17 she told me 33,000 people that filed on 1/23/15 were flagged due to a programming error but she didn’t see anything wrong on my part with my return told me if I didn’t get it by the next week to call back. I called back on 2/25 they told me I was flagged for ID theft on 2/17!! The same day I talked to the nice very helpful lady!! They told me to call another number and answer all of the ID theft question so I called gave them all my info and she told me it would take up to 6 weeks unless something else happened!! I’m so upset what else could go wrong?? This is awful I don’t know what else to do and everything on IRS2GO and where’s my refund is still saying processing nothing has changed as of yet. I don’t understand why it would take 6 more weeks.

    • I’m definitely going through the same thing, I found out last year I was a victim as well. Its been a month since I filed and accepted so I called just like you did and they told me the same exact thing, It’s really sad that innocent people like us have to go through so much to get what’s’ entitled to us. Its a waiting game now .

    • This is what is happening to me. I have received my state refund but my federal Im still waiting on. Im a week past the expected date.

    • I’m in the same position I filed January 30th revived my state February 10th the. Waited for my federal I noticed it sAid still processing after 21 days. It took me a week to get ahold of someone with a heartbeat at the IRS they said I’m also in review bc they are being extra careful this year due to fraud. Also told me it will be 6-8 weeks from February 5th the day they went into review. Pretty ridiculous. I won’t have mine until April if then.

    • I filed my return on January 29th and was accepted within an hour, however, as of today I still have not received my refund and that same message is still showing on WMR. I spoke to someone at the IRS today, and i have to say that we really need more like her. She placed me on hold and checked on me every so often to make sure i knew she was looking into it. She came back and said that my return was in the error’s resolution department and my refund was in limbo and she didn’t understand what was the holdup since returns need to be out of error resolution within a specified time. She said she was going to research my account with her manager and get back with me before she left for the day at 2:30. I made it clear that my child needed to complete their FAFSA and that i could really use my refund. I received a call at 1 PM and she informed me that there was an issue with identity theft and that someone had coded it wrong and that was the reason why my return had not moved forward, or no notification sent. She said everything looked good and she was submitting a request confirming my identity and asking that the refund be released immediately. She stated that it usually takes 30 days from the date the request is made, but was going to expedite it due to my child’s financial aid and therefore it may only take about two weeks. I guess I’ll find out in a few weeks how knowledgeable she really is…:-)

    • Im in the same situation. sucks. got a letter from intuit stating my account was hacked at the end of january. i filed on feb 3rd. i still have no refund yet. i called the id theft dept. and was told my taxes were under review and they sent me a letter which i have yet to receive. its been 2 weeks. so ya, a month has passed, its still under review, iv heard nothing from da irs. very annoying

    • I’m experiencing this. I filed on February 6 and now there is no information on the IRS site at all except it is being reviewed/processed. It use to say it was received but now just some random message and on Turbo Tax it said 92 % had received their refund that sent it when I did…!!! I can’t even find a number to call the IRS!

    • I am going through the same thing! I tried to get my transcript and it had me call a number in which the guy told me it could take up to 8 weeks to receive my refund. He also told me not to call back until around the 20th of March and also said that it was pulled for “review”. I have never had a problem before. I guess we were just randomly picked? I am going crazy waiting for it!! Lol

    • i filed about the same time and have yet to see any change in my status. i use the irs2go app and check every morning. I dont see the point in saying “you should see your refund in 21 days, let us know if you dont” and then come to find out you are just told to wait longer?! so frustrating as other people i know that used other tax services AFTER i filed have already got theirs deposited.

    • Yes you are not alone I filled mine on the the 26th of January 2015 still haven’t received them. The irs is telling me the same exact thing.

    • Having the same problem. Filed ours on the 30th still just says processing. Husband called and all they would tell him is that it can take up to 6-8 weeks, but that we will probably see it shortly. That was on February 22nd. Still nothing.

    • Hi Sonya,
I feel your pain! Please, what is the number you called? Because it seems to be very hard to get a hold of a real person in this government! I am going through it too.
      Thank you,
      Falcon

    • I am going through the same thing with my mom’s taxes. Her taxes were filed on 2/13/15 and was accepted with no problem by the IRS…..state tax was received but federal is still being held up with out any explanation. I tried to speak with some one from the IRS but I can’t seem to get a hold of anyone to give me any answers. When I check wheres my refund it just gives me the status of still processing but no other info. This is frustrating!

    • I canceled my appointment for AARP to do my taxes on Feb 10, 2015 and did them via Turbo Tax on Feb 6, 2015. The person who got my canceled AARP appointment has already received her refund. BOY DID I MAKE A MISTAKE — NEVER USE TURBO TAX AGAIN. I’m getting the same response that you are – it is being processed. By the way, mine was a 1040EZ, how complicated can that be.

    • I’m going through the same thing. I filed mine the first day you can and still haven’t received mine. I called they said I was potential identity theft victim so they are looking at mine closer and I should receive it in 8 weeks. When I check the status it still says the same still being processed.

    • I filed for my taxes feb they told my i had to redo my taxes because someone clamed my son and stolen his identity so i had to send it by mail i filled charges its under investigation but i haven’t gotten any mail its been 4 weeks and i haven’t heard from Irs i was advise to call Irs and let them know but all im getting is to email them and or send a letter to report fraud will i get my refund i dont know whats going on

    • I’m in the EXACT same position. Today is the end of 6 weeks. I was a victim in 2012 also. I hate it because I feel like I’m the one being punished because someone tried to steal my income tax.

      • Yes, I called again because 2 weeks passed since my last conversation with a live person. This time the lady was extremely helpful. She told me that the refund went into what is called “manual review”. Our refund was flagged for review because we were victims before. They do hold and process the refunds between 6-8 weeks from file date. She said I should receive my refund around the 26th. Beware I also received a scam email from Turbo tax asking me to pay my fee up front. I chose to deduct it from my federal refund. The lady told me not to pay it because once the refund is processed turbo tax will be paid as the prepare/software. I don’t know how true this is but I decided to wait and not pay it.

I am crossing my fingers for March 26th or sooner, if not I will call IRS again on March 27th! That will be 8 weeks exactly and I am growing tired of waiting.

      • I been on the phone all day trying to get some one on the phone, I feel like pulling my hair out.its been 27 days still not shit.

    • I am going through a similar thing. Sent my taxes in feb 4th and still nothing…. I cant even reach anyone at the IRS due to call volume being so high! I keep getting disconnected!

      • I sent mine on Feb 4th too and the only refund I have received is CT. Still waiting for NY and MA and FEDERAL. It’s so aggravating!

    • SAME here, I filed February 4th and mine says it’s still process. I called a few days ago and was told mines has a damn delay because of residency issues and it might take 6-8 weeks from February 17th, which I don’t see why that date has any significance any who best of luck to you all in the same boat as me!

    • I’m in the same boat as you, I filled on 1/27 and accepted on the 1/29 till this day it still says “processing a refund date will be provided when available”. A couple weeks ago a representative from the irs said I had to wait about 6-8 weeks from the first week of feb. And should receive my refund between. 3/19 -4/3 and that it might be sooner .. this is so fustrating!!!! Please give me any updates..

    • Marquita- Mine said it was mailed on Feb 11th AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED! Today is March 6th…. It says on “where’s my Refund” that I can’t call the IRS until March 11 to do a trace… That is next Weds…. Have you still not received yours in the mail?

      • Did u receive your check yet??…and how did they trace it..cause they told me they have no tracking # on it…please let me kno what they did for you?

  6. I was suppose to receive my tax return on Feb 25th. I have not yet to received, It states that I have to wait until March the 2nd before I can call them. I have never had this happen that when its say that it will be deposited and not be there on that date. Now my mom filed her taxes and they were deposited into my account could this be a reason i did not get them? also I was reviewing my transcript and at first about a week account my refund was approved and than today I reviewed them again and it states refund canceled any reason why or what this means. Please help thank you in advanced.

    • Hi Lisa,
If your refund was cancelled it may be due to a refund offset due to outstanding student loans, child support, outstanding tax debts. You will receive a notice if your refund was offset or you can call the Us Treasury to see if it was offset.
      Thank you,
      Lisa Greene-Lewis

      • Hey my name is christine I have a question just curious. My federal refund has been received I been waiting for almost a month and just yesterday it has been approved.once a refund has been approved and ready to be deposited can there be an offset after?

      • I filed through turbo tax on Jan 30th accepted on Jan 31, called irs and was told they did not receive my refund reguest until Feb 20th, how is that possible when for the last 3 weeks it has said processing with generic code 152, this is crazy…

      • If I earned this money, and I basically loaned it to the government for a period of time, then why are they taking sooo long to give me back MY MONEY! I cannot believe this is such a long debate over what is never been there’s to begin with. This is my refund money not yours, government. Stop holding people’s hard earned money, because you need it a little bit longer, and give us our money now! It was never yours to decide upon!

      • Y is it sayin accepted on feb 11 and a dd of march 5 on the app yall have but the lady who did my taxes for me says its still processing and on the irs where is my refund tool says it cant give me any info to wait at least 21 days check again i have still nothing..

      • I have received my federal return but haven’t received my state. In the state site it says ‘processed but no refund is due’. What does that mean when I was expecting a refund?

  7. I filed On the 11th of February and it got accepted same day..do I go by just weekdays for the 21 days or do I count weekends as well? It says I shouldn’t get it any later than March 5th..if this is true shouldnt it be showing approved already?

    • Hello Claudia,

You should only count business days (Monday – Friday). If you have not received your refund by March 5th you may want to give them a call.

    • I did mine the same day got the same date and still nothing thats the turbo tax tax refund app i cant pull nothing up with irs says cant give me any info at this time and turbo tax has accepted on there site so y is it still processing..

  8. I will never use turbo tax again!! I usually use h R block and get my return within 10 days. Filed and had my return accepted 2/4/15 by turbotax. Called irs since the site still says processing.. Now they are telling me an additional 6-8 weeks for my return!

    • Unfortunately it is not TurboTax’s fault, the IRS has been doing this to a lot of people this year for some reason. I am going through the same thing. The IRS is randomly pulling returns out for review. I am going crazy waiting for it! They said it could take up to 8 weeks!!

  9. If it says on track my refund it was sent to my account on feb25 but it’s still not in there does that mean it went to HR block for them to take out there fee for doing my taxes first and if it goes to them first how long intill they direct it back to your account and can it be done on weekends or do they only redirect it to your account on weekdays?

  10. Ok I did my taxes and they were accepted but I gave the wrong number for my account from the bank so now it saids they send a check how long does it takes for the check to receive it

    • You didn’t give them the wrong account number. they are saying that same crap to everyone. I checked mine, it is right… and they did this. They have been doing it to everyone. Its called floating our money

  11. My federal tax return was accepted on January 22nd and I filled form for Affordable Care Act credit. I have checked the status of my return and to this day it still says being processed it has been longer than 35 days.

  12. Hi I. Filed on the 29th of january but irs say that I was accepted on the secondth my bars disappeared and no tax topic I was told that I was a victim of identity theft and that I needed to fill out an 14309 I did sent it back a wk later I was told I didn’t need to do that all I had to do was verify who I was I did that then they said it still was a problem so I sent a copy of my ssn dl and copy of my tax return to my local irs and I’m. Being told I have to wait at least six weeks but when does my six wks start

    • Oh wow! Identity theft. I’m not understanding how someone can just steal someone else’s taxes . That’s crazy.Hope they get everything straight with your taxes.

    • New update called irs and a lady asked me for my info and she then told me that my case was closed on the 13th of february that I have to allow six wks which will be march 27 so I’m guessing that I will get my refund then or do my case being closed mean something else

  13. i also am experiencing the same problem as many…its been 37 days since my return was accepted. I finally got through to the IRS human representative and the hold ups are all about identity…I called 1-800-829-0582 ext 352….they then instruct you to go to idverify.irs.gov, and identify yourself, or call 1-800-830-5084 and identify yourself…..Then heres the BOMB….after you do that your refund will be issued in 6-8 weeks…..WTH!!!!!!!

  14. I filed mines jan30,2015, my refund status is still saying being processed. Today makes the 21st day. I will never use this service ever again.

    • Hi Lenay and Others who are experiencing delays.
The IRS works hard to issue refunds as quickly as possible, but some tax returns take longer to process than others for many reasons, including when a return:
      – includes errors,
      – is incomplete,
      – needs further review,
      – is impacted by identity theft or fraud,
      – includes Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation,
which could take up to 14 weeks to process. These issues can affect taxpayers no matter how they prepare their returns.
      Thank you,
      Lisa Greene-Lewis

    • IT DONT MATTER WHAT TAX PREPPER YOU USE, ITS THE IRS MAKING SURE EVERYONE IS WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE… DONT BE MAD AT THE “PLAYER’S” WHEN THE IRS HAS CONTROL OF THE BALL………..

  15. I filed my refund on February 14 and it was accepted on February 14. Checked the where’s my refund and shows it was deposited on February 24th and still haven’t received anything. I called my bank and they say there are no pending deposits. So where is my refund? I need my money now.

  16. I efiled Feb 1,2015 an it’s Feb 27,2015 still nothing but your return is being processed,we will provide a refubdrefund date when available. Smh!! Anyone know wats goin on????????

  17. How do u get your transcripts??????? Filed and accepted 2/7/15 same message still processing 21 days tomorrow no letter no tax topic nothing just generic msg….
Irs loves to take are money but when table is turned god for bid we can’t get it in a timley manner I’ve read 100 plus different articles all same msg still processing and no bars but every answer is different so don’t get scared off what u read until u talk to a rep or acuall tax prep bc I’ve been sweating bullets but what can I do its not in my hands anymore very annoying and upseting but some how gonna try and talk to a acual human tomorrow at irs lets hope I get through bc having this mang mad ppl isn’t good…. ahhhhhh just wanna sc ream …..

  18. I filed my taxes on 2/09 was accepted the same day. It’s saying it’s being processed since the 10th which it’s now the27th..My state says my money was being released on the 23rd & to allow 3 business days for it to be credited and deposited into my account. That would of been Thursday&guess what still not deposited into my account it’s now Friday and nothing…Everyone I know has Gotten their money in 3 weeks or less.Is everyone having problems this year or what…Glad it’s not just me but I have bills to pay and really need my money BADLY!!!!

    • Contact someone would be my biggest piece of advice….make sure it isn’t being held up for any perticular reason (I.e debt, wrong address, wrong account number, whatever)….the irs says doing nothing is the worst thing to do.

  19. I filed my taxes on the 13th of January and accepted on the same day. I am still waiting for something to arrive in the mail and have not had any luck contacting the IRS…… I need help…. What is going on

  20. On the WMR site it says my refund check was sent out 2-19-15, it is now 2-26, how long does it usually take to get paper checks??

  21. I filed on 2/4. Was accepted on 2/6. I got the same message that a lot of people have gotten: your refund is still being processed, a refund date will be available blah blah blah. I called the irs since it was my 23rd day. I was told that my return was manually flagged for review and I should be getting a refund in 60 days from when they mailed a letter on 2/17. So HOPEFULLY I will get my refund before APRIL 17!!!! Yeah, the IRS is a major screw up. And thanks to Obamacare, a lot of returns are being flagged for review. It’s only taking so long because the irs had their funding cut. So that’s why you cannot get a live person on the phone, and returns are taking twice as long to review. If you’re counting on this money, you are making a huge mistake. I’m VERY doubtful that I will get a return at all. Thanks IRS! Thanks TurboTax!

  22. I think turbotax is a scam…..you can’t track your refund after two weeks. They say its free to file but they charge you 29.00 . I filed my taxes on 2/4/15 and it was accepted the same day. I haven’t got my refund and no one has a clue of what is going on. #H&R Block next year.

  23. My federal tax return was accepted on jan 31st and I have checked the status of my return and to this day it still says being processed it has been longer than 21 days. I need this money and don’t know what else I can do

  24. After finding out my return got turned over to “Taxpayer Protection”, I finally got a hold of a real person and verified my identity with her. She said my refund will be deposited in 6 weeks… WHAT? I’ve already waited 4 weeks! Now 10 weeks total for E-file???? I’ll definitely be doing mine by mail from now on.

  25. I EFILED ON 01-25-15. PATIENTLY WAITED 21 BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE CONTACTING THE IRS. WAS THEN INFORMED MY RETURN WAS NOT RECIEVED UNTIL FEB 3RD SO I NEEDED TO BE PATIENT AND WAIT 21 DAYS FROM THAT DATE!!! SO I CALL TODAY BC IT HAS BEEN OVER 21 DAYS TO BE INFORMED THAT MY RETURN WAS NOT PROCESSED UNTIL FEB 23RD 2015!!!!!! THE REP DOES NOT SEE THAT THE IRS HAS SENT ME ANY MAIL REGARDING FURTHER REVIEW NOR IS THE IRS REQUIRING ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. THE REP SAYS ITS ONLY BEEN 3 DAYS THATS ITS BEEN IN “PROCESS MODE”. MY TAX TRANSCRIPTS EVEN SHOW A PROCESS DATE OF 02/23/2015! I HAVE ALL THE NORMAL CODES EXPECT FOR THE INFAMOUS 570 CODE BUT NO 846 CODE!!! SO MY QUESTION IS: DID MY RETURN JUST SIT SOMEWHERE IN CYBERSPACE AND REALLY ONLY STARTED PROCESSING ON 02/23/2015 ?? ALSO, IF I AM UNDER FURTHER REVIEW…DOES THAT MEAN AN AUDIT? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS AND HAVE A BLESSED DAY!

    • Hi Brittney,
No it doesn’t mean an audit sometimes the IRS just needs additional information or need to review more closely depending on what deductions your claiming.
      Thank you,
      Lisa Greene-Lewis

  26. I filed and was accepted on 1-24-15 using TurboTax. After 21 days I called IRS who put me on hold twice transferred me to another rep then got the news that my return was Lost! They reassured me that I should get it in 2 weeks. Its been 8 days now still nada.Called TurboTax and they told me I probably owe money…ALREADY GOT STATE 2 WEEKS AGO ! Who do you believe?

  29. today I I spoke to an IRS advocator after all of the stories that the IRS gave me giving me the leaves of 60 to 90 days to my return has been lost through cyberspace so many different stories I have been told today she told me the truth about my taxes it’s the Affordable Care Act that seems to be holding up a lot of people before the book Care Act if you fill out one form just one form incorrect that can hold your taxes while you’re sitting here looking through where’s my refund and it says that its processing in all reality its not processing it is at a standstill until they get to your tax return and they can work it out right then and there but that’s what’s going on iris is having a lot of problems because of the Affordable Care Act the market Obamacare I am devastated at the fact that I cannot receive the money that I paid then my tax preparer also put in a form that has held me up but if all of you are wondering that’s what’s going on with a lot of people there for tubal Care Act

  33. I filed Jan 27, 2015 and it’s now been 1 month and 2 days and still status is still saying your tax return is still being processing a date will be provided when available. I have no code topic and Irs is not helpful they say I should only contact them if it says it but otherwise they let me know that it’s under review that if i dont here something by April 6, this tax year sucks

    • Hi Janese….I filed on 1-29 & pretty much was in the same category. Had a bar with all fields showing (SSN, refund amount, etc) bar left on 2-16 to refund still processing…..with no tax topic, to refund still processing with tax topic & refund amount disappear. Called on day 22, 25 & 26 (3 different response) Tired of the run around so I called the IRS Nat’l Tax Advocate…He stated my refund is processing, there are no errors & everything is fine, even had a DDD in the IRS system for 3-9. As long as its processing with no other messages its fine, just a waiting process and no need for an assigned tax advocate bcz they cant speed up processing they only handle issues. So I was okay with the news as long as nothing was wrong just don’t like the waiting game! Hope this helps or shed some kind of light.

    • I filed Jan. 30 and was accepted next day. Still says still being processed with no further instructions… This is stressing me out. Never took this long to wait for my refund before. I’m not gona blame TurboTax; been using them for years and will continue to do so. After reading several comments here it’s the irs: Down sizing in staff, new tax laws and policies… Sighs, just going to stay positive for now …

  34. I did my taxes January 31st and have NOT even received anything from IRS saying they have received my return?? What is the delay??

  35. Follwing My statuses for my refund I says I aS Pproves and that my refund was sent and should be received via direct deposit by the 24 I have still yet to receive it. What’s going on?

  36. I had recently filed my taxes on 2/13/2015. Everything was going good and I was suppose to receive my return on 2/23/2015. But then they took it for an offset. But I got the agency to release my whole return. I’m just wondering how long it might take for me to see my refund. A week maybe 2?

  37. Call 18008290582 Ext 352. It work . May take 10 calls to finally get on hold. But it work . Took me 8 times of callin . Hope this helps. I garauntee it does

  38. Why I only received partial of my tax return and not the full amount deposited into my account I do not owe money to anyone and now the IRS says I have to call back march 2 why what’s going on

  39. filed on the january 16th ,, says accepted.. but irs says still processing ??????? Turbo tax gave me an estimate of feb 10 for refund amount ??? its now the 25th..and still says processing??

  40. I filed mine January 20th. Still say’s PROCESSING… I called IRS 2x’s… Both reps said being that I was a Victim of Identity theft 2 yrs ago that they are taking longer to process returns of those who have been victims of the ID theft because IRS wants to make sure they are issue it to the right person. So now I sit and wait patiently and hope by the beginning of April – the date they gave me now – that I get my refund… So those who have been victims of ID theft in the past- this could possibly be why yours is being delayed at the moment. Hope that helps.
