That’s why we’re partnering with multi-platinum selling artist and entrepreneur Saweetie to elevate up-and-coming basketball hoopers through the Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League (AEBL). TurboTax will be sponsoring the AEBL’s 8-week basketball season and their mission of using sport as a pathway out of poverty. To leave an enduring impact on the community, TurboTax and Saweetie will partner to renovate the locker rooms at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate in Atlanta’s West End, where the AEBL competes. KIPP Atlanta Collegiate is a free charter school with nearly 3 decades of history preparing students for college and life. This is one of many commitments that Saweetie and TurboTax have shown to empower financial prosperity and up-and-coming athletes. “Teaching financial literacy is imperative because if you know better you do better,” Saweetie told 21Ninety. “It bridges gaps and fills holes that would have been left empty if someone didn’t know they could learn how to overcome those challenges.” TurboTax has a continued commitment to building financial confidence through free educational, real-world tools and courses. TurboTax is a recognized brand in this space, most recently being named Brand of the Year at the Name Image Likeness 2024 Summit, an event that empowers student-athlete impact beyond the game. “Playing sports in school really helped build my confidence as a performer, but I had to develop my financial literacy skill set outside of the classroom,“ says Saweetie. “I’m honored to team up with TurboTax to help empower this next generation of athletes and give them the tools to excel off the court.” For aspiring hoopers, tax experts and the Atlanta community—there is no off season.
