Congratulations on finishing your taxes!

We know how important your tax refund is to you. Good news, the IRS started processing tax returns on January 30th.   Returns will be processed in the order they were submitted and as soon as your tax return is accepted, we will notify you by email.   This notification could take up to 48 hours.

The IRS estimates that you should receive your tax refund within 21 days of your return being accepted.  The IRS issued more than 9 out of 10 refunds in less than 21 days last year and expects the same results this year.

Once your tax return has been accepted by the IRS, you can track the status of your refund by logging into your MyTurboTax account or checking the IRS Where’s My Refund Tool.

IRS Update:  The IRS announced today that they are experiencing high traffic on their Where’s My Refund Tool.  As a result, there may be limited availability during busier periods. The IRS has asked the entire tax industry to remind customers to only check Where’s My Refund once a day. IRS systems are only updated once a day, usually overnight.

  1. We filled our return on Jan. 18th. Guess what still not accepted. We did the appreciation form which was suppose to be open for IRS on Feb 10th. STILL NOTHING HAS BEEN PROCESSED! They say give it 24 to 48 hrs after they are open to accepting these types of returns. It’s been 48 hrs now. Why hasn’t ours been released? TT said they where holding them until the IRS was accepting. We were suppose to be in line and in order of filling yet I see others that filled later than us with TT being accepted? Really? Ours should have been first in line not someones that filled the end of Jan. I think they are holding everyones taxes back so it wouldn’t look bad on them the IRS rejecting everyones that used the hold up forms. Looking out for themselves in their stats not us.

  2. I filed 2/3, it is now 2/11 and it is still in pending status. Then I am readng thru here that the IRS will get to those around the 14th, then the 21 days styart from there? I think they should expedite our refunds since nobody informed me of this delay.

  3. I also have an education credit and my taxes have been pending since the 24th. It’s not TT. It’s the IRS. Whether they hold them or send them they’re still not going to be processed until the 14th. All these people believing in some conspiracy aren’t being logical. Why wouldn’t they want to submit our taxes that’s how they make their money! 3 more days. All you can do is wait. No matter how angry you get it’s not going to make time move any faster and these people didnt do it to you!

  4. I just thought about something.. And anybody can answer this for me. You say that the 8863 is not ready to be used. That means its not been finalized. Which also means that the math for the form is not yet released. So if it isnt released, how come we were able to use the form in the program? Whith that said, what if the mathematics that irs decides to release comes out different from the mathematic we all used in the later January or earlier Feb? Would that change our returns? Would that make people who were originally supposed to get back $5000 only get back $4300? If so, we are all screwed on here!! Im just saying, becuase im really starting tothink abut alot of stuff now. Too many people with 8863 and etc used another tax vendor and got their money withing 8 days, Whereas we all trusted turbotax, and arent getting our money till later. And pray we all dont end up having to owe because of TT. Im just saying, so someone please make this make sense. Form not ready to be used, and we all used it. And it wasnt even finalized. AND WE USED IT!!
    ***********
By the way Gayle, i do not agree with you on that. The hold up is turbotax. My reason for saying that is because, others are filing with H&R block, TaxAct and Tax Slayer, and getting their money. Yes, they did use the same forms we used. I mean, all the other tax vendors got 1+1=2, TT got 1+1=0
And when you ask irs, they give you this speech of what the site says, then say they dont know and get you off the phone before they have to lie to you. So yea, TT messed up. And besides why not tell me there is a delay before i file. All they had to do was apply an update which would show you a sticky when you try to use these delayed forms. This way, now you file at your own risk!

    • I get the frustration and from what I can tell from everyone’s complaints you all think the grass is greener on the other side of HR Block and these other companies. In my opinion, it seems that simpler returns are being given priority and the more extensive returns are being looked at more closely (I think because of tax fraud issues in the pass). If people are going to another tax software to complete their returns and purposely leaving out forms I do not think that these scenarios will end well for them, but what do I know right. I am waiting as well on my education credit, I was accepted early, and all I can do at this point is display a little faith and not get on the “listen to others” train. To be honest, there were many news reports on taxes and how some filers should file in February or March, but obviously we did not listen to this and for some reason no one wants to admit that we were forewarned. No, it did not take this long on previous years, but we never had legislatures take so long on such issues. YES, a few days difference made a big problem. The IRS can only do what it can to make its last minute changes and this in turn affects ALL the tax companies. Each situation is different and we all know this, but for many this realization is not being admitted. Denial I guess, for some. I do not know what your situation is, Romeo, but I would follow my own situation because I truly think (with the IRS having the issue they did in the pass with fraud) that a lot of people may be fined for doing duplicate returns. Maybe not, but I personally would not take the risk.

As far as the 8863 form and any other forms that were on hold I think there is a huge difference in the paper forms that you can print or even use on these software programs versus the forms in the IRS system. One in the same yes, but being that I work for a company that is going electronic the software used by the company often can detect errors and/or correct them so this may have been the hold up (making sure the actual software used by the IRS is up to speed on common errors that can occur, detecting them, and possibly other measures that can detect duplicate returns, fraudulent information on returns, and/or information that does not match a person last year information). That’s just how I think. Being that your return is going to be submitted to the IRS I am pretty sure that the return will be reviewed (especially more complex returns) and corrected if necessary. When this is done they send you a letter stating what the changes were they made (even if the change is a penny loss or gain). If I were you I would attempt to read on the process or whatever information that you could find on the IRS so that you don’t worry yourself so.

I don’t blame TT because if you truly knew the process you wouldn’t place fault on them. Everyone pretty much was caught off guard due to the late session and the fiscal cliff so everyone is scrambling, including the IRS (if you must know).

Good luck to you, Romeo, and I hope we all get our money sooner than later.

    • I would like to say amen, amen and amen. I filed on Feb 3 and my return is still in Pending status. TT should have been forthcoming with electronic filers and not allowed us to file if the IRS was “not ready to accept the form.” I would have mailed the crazy thing in if I had known. Now I am in a holding pattern just like everyone else. TT dropped the ball, kicked it, and then ran it over with a dump truck. I have used the software since 1995 – no more.

One thing I am sure you are aware ofbut didn’t mentionis many states use the federal taxable income as the starting point for their return so if the federal numbers change everyone will have to file an amended state return as well. Yippee!

    • I used H&R block and mine is in pending mode…I check on facebook everyday with H&R block and some peole ARE getting a smaller refund than expected! This one lady did her taxes expected 4000 and only got back 2500…you do have a point and I’m starting to wonder the same thing about mine.

  5. I just got home and checked my refund on Wheres My Refund and once again it comes up with the message saying that I have entered something wrong. So I call in and the little computer voice says that refund information is down please call back on Wednesday or Thursday when our call volume is not that high. I dont understand how such a big organization can be so behind the times and so out of shape. My return was accepted on January 25 and I am still waiting and trying to get TRUE information out of Turbo Tax is impossible. I am patient and waiting but do not think that all of this is falling on the IRS head and lawmakers had everything done on the 2nd of January so not their faults, so then who would it be? And you better answer fast because TT will pull this before the night is over…

      • Hey DCL,

I just checked it and it is still asking that on my return, my sister in laws return, but when I put in the information for my mom and dad it has there’s as processing. Patience is hard to learn and even harder to show

      • Paul, so..you’re is not showing up on where’s my refund….but your parents are? Just as an FYI…I did 3 returns…all between the 17 th of Jan. and the 31st of Jan…..mom’s was one of those accepted early on the 29th..but just sat in accepted mode on WMR till the 8th….. Mine and my bros was NOT accepted until Sunday the 10th…… We’re in pending on TT that whole time( both have depreciation and home business forms)…they were on WMR site by Mon. the 11th…in accepted mode…. I won’t expect movement on them to approved for 8-10 days….based on what the time line was for my mom’s return…. She should get her direct deposit tomorrow (Wed.) yea!!! We’ll see… 🙂

    • Paul – It wont show anything til after the 14th…be patient my friend – and i sent you a message regarding the inaccuracy of WMR – just call them around the 16th – a couple days after the processing starts. I believe they will give you a DD then – PEACE

      • cynthia. what is the info about the WMR being innaccurate. Mine has been saying recieved and processing for a week and still havent gotten a DD date yet?

      • Cynthia,

Hi. I went to check Where’s My Refund on my return and here is what it says now:

        Refund Status Results

Your tax return is still being processed.

A refund date will be provided when available.

        Please Note:
For refund information, please continue to check here, or use our free mobile app, IRS2Go. Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day.

No graph anymore with the return received, refund approved, refund sent. This is getting more and more confusing. I did my sister in laws return for her and it says the same as mine. I am think that 8863 is still the roblem because my return was accepted and has not been rejected.

I have a lot of patience but the rubber band is being stretched…

        Paul

      • Tracy – All I know is that my boyfriend (with a regular return) had his money DD on 2/1/13 and on the WMR as of today it still shows as “processing” so I would guess the WMR is not too accurate. He has had his money for 2 weeks.

    • Hey Paul – wanted to let you know my taxes were accepted today at 10:30 am. I checked the WMR site on IRS and it does show the chart and that my taxes have been accepted..the first piece of the chart. I hope yours gets processed quickly. Please come to this blog and let me know what you find out. Good luck…everyone I know that used TT that already received their refund (regular filers) got their money within 7 days.

      • Yes, my question is why is my tax return still in pending status after 2 days with 4562. I’ve been in pending status for a month. Yes I understand about the delay but after the delay now it’s still going on. I don’t need a link I just want a straight forward answer from someone

      • Just to let you know that the IRS starts the 21days on the 30th and not when you sent your return in. Today is the 11th and TT did not send any returns to the IRS till 1/24. Mine was accepted on the 25th but I am only counting back to the 30th because that is what the IRS told me on the phone today. Just a little information for you.

      • I’m still in pending, I’m not talking about my dd, I’m just talking about my return being sent to the IRS! Ill except the delays with the IRS I understand that. But my return is being held by turbo tax and not one person can tell me why. My form that was delayed started being processed 2 days ago. Yet still nothing

      • This is so easy to explain but TT has to SCREW it up. If you have Form 8863, 4562, or any of the other forms listed on the IRS site then you can fill out your return and try to efile it but it would be rejected until the 10th for 4562 and the 14th for 8863

      • Yeh mines the 4562, which the IRS said when I spoke to them that they started accepting these early on 2/9. And that it would be 48 hours maximum from when they receive till when they give u a status update. But turbo tax is holding those returns for some unknown reason and nobody at tt can give me a straight answer why my return has not been transmitted

    • KJ…Here’s a good number forTT to call…have them research your tax return. but…be prepared to wait on the phone for awhile….1800-624-7197

      • I’ve called them countless times and keep getting disconnected or when I do get thru I get the scripted answers. This is getting rediculous

  6. I FILED MY RETURN ON THE 28TH PER “TT” IS MY STATUS STILL PENDING, I DONT HAVE THE EDUCATION CREDIT OR THE DEPRECIATION CREDIT WUT IS THE “EXCUSE” FOR MY HOLD UP?

    • Annoyed.com…..Here’s a good number forTT to call…have them research your tax return. but…be prepared to wait on the phone for awhile….1800-624-7197

      • Christopher – mine has been pending since 1-26-13 with 8863…so are you saying that it is already sent to the IRS. TT told me they would send it/process it thru on the 14th. Which is it? I was under the impression TT had to resend on the 14th and it will remain pending with TT til then. You seem to be contradicting yourself. And….are these with the 8863 going to start processing at midnight tonight?

  7. Okay so I am absolutely stumped at this point. I filed my son’s tax return through H&R Block online with the 8863 form (educational tax credits) and he is getting his federal return tomorrow and I filed his 5 days after mine. I filed mine through TT online and mine still says pending. Can someone tell me why or how this happened?

    • Hey Kyle, you, me, and probably millions of others would like to know the same thing. It is as if somebody is picking returns to file and accept. I filed on 1/12 and TT sent it to the IRS on 1/24 and it was accepted on 1/25. I have 8863 credits. My return was done before the programming problem and now that problems were fixed on Feb. 7th with a massive download by the IRS my return is still pending. So I am at 18 days my return has been sitting at the IRS (I called them today and found that out). When I talked to the IRS she said that even though my return was one picked when the tested the system in January I can only go back to the 30th of January to start my count to 21 days for a refund. So according to IRS math I have been waiting 13 days. So can anybody else explain that or what about Turbo Tax Lisa, Turbo Tax Bob, or Turbo Tax Christopher. Because I am going to let the cat out of the bag. The updates on Feb. 7th from the IRS solved problems obviously people are getting refunds with Form 8863 through HR Block, Tax Act, Tax Slayer, BUT NO TURBO TAX, HMMMMM

      • Ok listen – I called HR Block today to see if I could file my taxes with the 8863. They told me they could do the paperwork but it would not be processed until the 14th. I do not know why everyone is saying that HR Block will do it – the only way they could is by doing the rapid refund which is actually a loan from HR Block that pays you now and you sign over your refund check to them. They charge about 400.00 out of your refund. I called 3 HR Block offices and was told the same thing – no 8863 processed until the 14th. It is not just TT

      • I check with 2 HR Blocks as well and they are not processing 8863 filers. No other company can file those forms until the 14th. You’re right Cynthia, people are just freaking out without getting the actual story. Everybody’s situation is different.

  8. Still nothin…. 4562 was being processed starting the 9th as per the IRS and mine which was efiled the 16th of jan has still not been sent…..

  9. My comments have been waiting to be approved by a moderator for a week and a half. All I did was ask why if my return had not been sent could I not receive my information back? I asked where exactly was my return. No answer. Ok, TT. I’ve been a loyal customer for 5 years, but ok

    • Hi Princess,
Unfortunately once you hit the e-file button you cannot get your tax return back. Even if you have some of the forms that are hold, your tax return is in submission status. If you had form 8863 you only have a few more days left before your tax return will be processed by the IRS so hopefully you will get your tax refund soon.
      Thank you,
      Lisa Greene-Lewis

      • EVERYBODY THAT HAS A RETURN FIELD IN JANUARY AND EARLY FEBRUARY AND STILL WAITING EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE AFTER US HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED THEIR REFUND. I sent mine on 1/12, Turbo Tax sent it to the IRS on 1/24 and it was accepted on 1/25 and still as of today mine says pending: SO PLEASE READ:

We only have a few more days, us 8863’ers, and “your tax return will be processed by the IRS” so now they say that they can guarantee our returns processed in a few days. Im not going to say anything else other than this:

I AM A AWESOME BS’ER BUT THESE TURBO TAX EMPLOYEES TAKE THE CAKE ON B’S

      • Does Submission mean that the IRS has the file, or does it mean that Turbo Tax has the file and refuses to allow it’s customers to recall their returns?

  10. I do not understand why my federal was accepted on the 31st and I’m still waiting on my refund to be processed. Coworker was accepted on 29th and already got his refund. Why is mine taking so much longer?

  11. I guess mine won.t be sent to irs till after the 14th.mine still says its inline to be processed..been that way since we filed on the 30 of Jan…sigh…and we wait and wait.

  12. I filed my federal return on Jan 30. Its 2/11/13 and it still says pending. ?? my states have been accepted since 2/1/13, what is going on?

  13. I have a 1040EZ I was accepted on 01/17/2013 and my status is still processing, How long does it take this year?
I always have my return DD within 8 days?
Anyone else in this situation ?

  14. This is such bs i will never use turbo tax again. Since the 30 of january mine said pending and now it says NO INFORMATION FOUND! REALLY SO DID U SEND IT OVER OR THROW IT OUT.

  15. I am becoming very skeptical of the IRS and TT. I filed on 1/17…accepted on 1/24…says still processing. Tried and tried to call IRS to no avail. Seems like no one wants to give accurate information. Can’t even get to talk to a real live person. I have no EID…only mortgage interest credit…get no answers.

  16. I got accepted and approved. It said refund sent and i have yet to see it deposited in my account?! Turbo tax do better please. Whats going with these falsified dates? If it said refund sent then my refund should have been sent?

    • Hi – Did you use Refund Transfer to pay our fee out of your refund? If so, then you need to allow a few days for the money to reach your account. If not, then you need to check with your financial institution. Cheers… –Christopher

  17. I have not received any communication from TT since Jan. 29. And my has been pending since as well. And the lady from TT that keeps posting so called up dates. The link takes you to the exact email they sent in the first place. Do i smell a class action law suit coming on.

  18. I submitted my taxes on January 31, and a message displayed due to certain forms I had used, my taxes would not be acepted until mid Febraury. I’ve been folloing along on all of the comments being left. Everyone needs to read them and not duplicate your question. My taxes were acepted by the IRS today (2/10). The hold up is not a Turbo Tax or H & R Block issue, but an IRS one. Time to stop putting blame on the software provider. I realize we all want out refunds (me included), but the fiscal cliff was to blame. No none else.

      • Shawna, I recvd an email from Intuit informing me my taxes were accepted by the IRS yesterday (Sunday). When I checked where is my refund for a status, it tells me my taxes were accepted on Jan 10, and a refund within 21 days, if not sooner.

      • The IRS is open 7am till 7pm for phone calls. Other than that the IRS is open with people doing work each day of the week cept for Holidays but I do not know about them.

      • I think this is the issue with the ones that are complaining, being unaware. If you don’t know, you don’t know. To shed a little light there are various departments within the IRS. The office is not opened to the public and of course customer service is not open on the weekend, but they are open on Saturdays and Sundays. With the thousands of returns being received, how do you think they are keeping up with the number of documents received. People are paying taxes as well as filing for a refund. If many of you knew the process then you would not be making some of the comments that you are making. Again, I do get that if you don’t know you simply do not know.

      • 1. There are various departments (Customer Service is who you talk to and a number of other departments that actually process the physical returns . Just because you e-file the returns you have to understand that they are still physical documents when received by the IRS and there are departments that handle this, NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE)

        2. Some departments are open on the weekend and some are not (like Customer Service). This is not 24/7-year round. If you have ever applied on a federal position you will see that some positions are full-time, seasonal, term, etc. It depends on “peak” times and other factors. Being that I cannot type a book on here I choose not to explain. I will try to explain the basics that need to be known.

3.Some of the departments that are open are simply not open to the public as customer service is. They are the employees that are doing most of the behind the scene tasks and why you cannot always get a straight answer from a customer service rep. Customer Service has to send a request to be able to see your return. There is only so much information that they can view on their computer screens.

Not to be rude, but if you do not know the process then it is a foreign terminology/process and being that people are already upset they will not understand anything aside from having a direct deposit date.

I wish the best of luck to you all and hope your money comes sooner than later. Trust me when I say that it is no one’s fault. When changes are made at the last minute (like they were this year) things will come up and no one has any control over it. The only thing that can be done is finding a way to get back on track. In this case some returns are being processed before those, like mine, who were ran early for the testing or even on the 30th because of their situation. They had simpler returns and some returns were warned to be the forms that would not be processed until later than the “to be known as” normal date.

Simply, there are no both ways. Customer Service is not open on the weekends. These people have information on your returns, but cannot see the physical return and because of this some questions are going unanswered. The actually employees who have touched your return for whatever reason throughout the “process” are the ones that you would like to talk to, but can’t because you would slow up the processing of millions returns by asking the same questions about your return like everyone on here is asking.

I don’t blame Turbo Tax or any other tax software because they were knocked in the chest and are trying to catch their breath. They were thrown off balance just as we all were by the late approval of some laws that have a great impact on us all. As the Customer Service people at the IRS they too only have so much information. If everyone would take the time to read the IRS website and even look at the additions made to it you would realize that legislation being late on the fiscal cliff and those doing fraudulent returns are what impacted this years filing season.

      • I double clicked the submit button so I’m not sure if my post went through.

In any case, to simplify my reply:

Open to the public and being open for business are two different things. I noted this in my post. Customer Service is not open on the weekends, but during “peak” time the employees who are physically touching your return are working on the weekend.

    • Hey Gale! I agree with what you are saying about waiting for the refund. I too have been waiting and checking daily on my status, which is “Pending.” The only problem I have is that I have followed what eveyone is saying and from what I understand is that the IRS is processing returns as they come in. I completed my return with TT and was transfered on the 27th of Jan. I paid TT for their services then. I too have filed the form 4652 Dep. and Amort. and no Education Credits. So I guess my question would be is that why was your taxes completed before mine, if I filed before you? I have tried to get an update through the IRS website, but it keeps telling me that the site is not available (this has been as of yesturday).

  19. And after 3 phone calls and 3 disconnects, countess emails I can’t get one rep from turbo tax to answer a question, I haven’t received any email from them

    • I’ve gotten all my information together and I’m turning it over to my attorney. It may not make a difference in the world and I may spend ten times as much as its worth but to say that they have been misleading is an understatement. People have to go to a blog just to get an answer. It’s tt obligation to inform its customers. I’ve still never received an Email stating anything from them

      • Hi Keith,
Is there any way I can help you further? Unfortunately, we did not know there was going to be a delay for forms 8863 and 4562 until the IRS discovered they could not accept those forms and announced it on 1/28. Please let me know what your exact question is.
        Thank you,
        Lisa Greene-Lewis

      • My question is if the IRS is accepting form 4562 then why hasn’t my return been forwarded? Nobody will answer that. Nobody knows.

      • Ok so it seems like TT lisa is answering everybody question but mine. When i checked the WMR tool it has no record of my return so with that being said maybe i should go file else where (HR Block) since the IRS doesn’t have my return. This doesn’t make any sense. I filed Feb 2nd by the way.

  20. I submitted my return on January 30, 2012 and the IRS hasn’t accepted my return yet. You tell me and the IRS does, as well, to wait 24-48-72 hours. Well, it is now 2/10/13 and I still am in pending status. What do I do now?

  21. My delay was for form 4562, this has been corrected and the IRS is accepting these but turbo will not send…….. Once again turbo tax goes above and beyond to inform and please it’s paying customers

  22. None of these dates have been correct yet. The IRS updated a major amount of forms on February 7th including Form 4562 and Form 8863. Most of the forms listed on the IRS memo have been updated. Ths IRS is working hard to get this done. Now you ask where did I hear this from. (1) I talk to a person on Turbo Tax Chat and he told me this (2) I talked to my friend who works at a tax place (I will not mention) and they are already sending in returns with 8863 and 4652. The only thing I can say is that Turbo Tax is sitting their proverbeil butt, doing nothing, and not caring because most of the people with two two forms used free file and Turbo Tax makes no money off of them. It is completely up to everyone here as to what they want to believe.

  23. zzbolt that is so true thats why a lot of people is confused? Is TT going to start submitting the delayed tax returns today????? The IRS start accepting taxes like mine today but mine is still pending and they start processing them today

      • We filled on Jan 18th and still haven’t received our acceptance email. I sure hope it happens today. We have been very patient so far but starting to blow a lid at the Government and TT for not being totally honests. They just been busted in a lie if you were already accepted and we haven’t been. It was suppose to be in order of filling. At least that is what TT said. Glad you will see some results very soon. Good Luck!!!

      • Jackson you must be a Republican because only those who voted for the R’s would say something like you did and remember there is only ways we can get out of debt and one is if we raise taxes on the rich it can balance the budget just like Clinton did and he did balance by raising taxes on the rich. so research before you speak.

      • Shawna, I work with many small businessmen who you might consider rich. They do not want to hire anyone now because they do not think that governmental policies will allow them to profit by adding employees. If they hired more then not only would the government get more income by an increase in the number of taxpayers the government also saves from spending on food stamps and unemployment.

    • Oooooh you’re mad! I’ll I’m trying to say is that at this point we’ve been screwed and we’ll learn our lesson next time but the IRS web site did say the 14th for the 8863 filers. I’m not believing a word turbo tax says, I’m just hoping that what the irs is saying is accurate.

  24. I filed my taxes on 1-30-2013 and Turbo Tax still says my taxes are pending. When are they going to process my order. I contacted the IRS and they said they have no order for me at all.

  25. I also love how you tell people to keep checking on the status of their return ..when you know full well that TT has not even sent the return to the IRS….but in oyur own words is holding them … Shameful and pitiful …

  26. I filed on 1/31 my state was accepted but my federal is still in pending as of 02/09 and I have no education credits, any help please

  27. So does anybody know how accurate “Where’s My Refund” is this year. The past couple years our refund would be sent and it woul d not show up on the WMR as sent until a week later. Just wondering if it was the same crap as 3 to 4 years back has been.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    • FYI…My Mom’s sat in “received mode” for 9-10 days… (From the 29th till yest morning the 9th)…finally said approved with a DD of Feb 13th

    • Paul – I would not rely on WMR. My boyfriend filed and accepted on the 25th – his DD was in his bank on 2/1/13 – it stills says processing on the WMR with the IRS – He was just a regular filer. – obviously the WMR is inaccurate or it would show deposited 2-1-13

  28. So now when I check my refund status on Turbotax website, this is what is says

We were unable to match the information you entered. Check your entries and try again.

But yesterday it said PENDING. what is up with that. I am confused so much right now.

    • Upset…Here’s a good number forTT to call…have them research your tax return. but…be prepared to wait on the phone for awhile….1800-624-7197

  29. I filed my taxes on the Feb 5th fed was accepted in 15 mins, state was accepted by the next morning. State has been approved and should be deposited within 48 hours. Just waiting for fed to approve..I have had no problems so far.I love TT.. and my bf just filed his today so we will see how his goes as well.

  30. Although I am grateful my request for an update from TT would be provided indicated approximate dates, I have a HUGE concern and respectfully request a turbo tax representative to provide an explanation on the following: why do I have it in writing from TT that my taxes were in the hands of the IRS (and postmarked) jan 28th and an email today stating they will “SEND” my taxes to the IRS on feb 14th. This is becoming extremely sketchy behavior for a professional company I have entrusted with the most personal of information. I very much need an explanation on this.

  31. One of my friends filed with TT Deluxe Just got his Lousinana accepted 2 hrs ago.. He filed on the 4th. But federal still says pending.. LOL i thought state couldnt be accepted without federal being accepted??. I hate being played for a fool!

    • As fasr as state and federal – it was stated that federal MAY not for sure hold up your state – you were lucky…go with it

  32. Hey Turbo Tax – Bob or Karen – once the 14th rolls around will all the refunds filed and being held in pending begin to process thru – immediately. Please answer!!

    • Cynthia,

Now they will tell us to wait the 21 days all over again. I do not know what to expect. Also I start school on February 18th and will have no money to pay for my books and tuition so I am screwed either way. Not happy at alll with TT or the IRS and very unhappy when I see and here about people with Form 8863 receiving refunds.

      • Listen everyone – The IRS posted that they will begin processing the returns on the 14th – TT says the same. That is the answer. If your status is pending or accepted – they will begin to run thru the IRS system on the 14th – maybe before if we are lucky…but no later than the 14th. If you are pending (like me) then on or shortly after the 14th you will become “accepted” or “rejected” after that you will begin to be processed if accepted – most people I know that have already received their refund money got it within 9 days….Relax…it is happening. I am not even looking for anything to change until the 14th. I really hope everyone gets their money quickly – sending out the positive energy on that …… Cindy

      • Cindy the problem is that the IRS is accepting taxes since Jan. 30th there are people like me who did not use form 8863 or have any school credit at all but TT is holding my paperwork till the 14th. I filed my taxes through Taxact already been accepted by the IRS.

  33. Maybe this will give some of you piece of mind…..the irs has now posted more specific dates to It’s website. If you filed using the 8863 form (education credit) they will start processing on feb. 14th and if you filed using the 4562 form (depreciation and amortization) those will start processing on Fed 10th. There are still many other forms that will be late February, early March. Below is a link to the website/information….. http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/List-of-IRS-forms-that-1040-filers-can-begin-filing-in-late-February-or-into-March-2013

    • AMEN Wendy – that is the best thing I have heard all week. Thanks for the info….

So – TT – will our returns begin being accepted on the 14th or start processing in now?

      • Hi Cynthia,

I just talked to TT and asked exactly where my return was. She said that since my return was accepted on 1/24 by the IRS then the IRS has it. They will start processing them on 2/14 even though they have already been processed except for one form so it will start all over again. Then we have to wait the 21 days all over again too. So for me that will be at 34 days of waiting before I may receive my return. I asked her about people going elsewhere and having the exact some return that they prepared with TT and the same return being accepted, direct deposit dave given, and refund recived. She closed the chat window when I brought that up? Whom do we believe?

      • Paul – I think it will be quick. My boyfriend filed and was accepted on the 25th of Jan – his DD was in his account by the 1st of Feb. So – hopefully once things start rolling it will go quickly for you and everyone else.

    • Thank you for the update on Form 4562. So if the Fed starts processing on Feb 10th what is the time frame for my taxes to be accepted?

  34. I have been asking for over a week to TT, please, why not update the information on our actual status page that is providing statements such as should be a 24-48 hour timeframe to have an updated status, check back daily etc. if the status was updated with “date to be determined” or “scheduled for approximately early March”…. Maybe then many of us would not be on here several times a day trying to figure out what is going on. (Due to TT providing conflicting information). This really is valuable customer feedback and I do not see why TT wouldn’t agree this would be just plain “better business”.

    • Hi all, I spoke with a nice lady n Turbo Tax help line this morning…she was able to check the 3 returns I prepared for self and fam members… She said that the depreciation 4562 form was updated yest ( the 7th) and that the IRS would begin to accept them today the 8th…. Here’s a good number to call…but…be prepared to wait on the phone for awhile….1800-624-7197

      • WOW I do mean WOW. The IRS updated form 4562 depreciation yesterday (the 7th) but the IRS page says the 10th. So maybe we will get lucky and they will update Form 8863 early too. Wouldn’t that be so nice?

  35. OK…I just called IRS this am. They are still saying mid-February acceptance date for form 8863. So keep your fingers crossed for early start.

  36. I am getting so upset, this is just not right. We have paid our taxes and are excepted to file taxes befor April 15th and if we don’t we get a penalty for it. But when it come to the IRS not doing right we can’t do anything about it. I wish I knew what was going on befor I filed my taxes. This waiting game sucks. And some people have filed with either Taxact or Hrblock and have been accepted, but I am afarid to re-file, because knowing my luck it will get all messed up if i do that. WE THE TAX PAYERS NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

  37. I have always received my return quick I am single no deductions very simple, I have used both turbo tax and h&r block but this year there is something wrong, my return was received on Jan 27th, and it is still possessing as of 30 minutes ago, how often does WMR update and does it update on the weekend?
