Uncategorized Ways to Save this Cinco de Mayo Leer el artículo Abrir el cajón compartido Escrito por Elle Martinez Publicado Jun 10, 2019 2 minutos de lectura Many families are getting together this weekend to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. While it may be tempting to go out and have a night out, you can have a lot more fun having your loved ones over and save money at the same time. With the weather settling down and the sun out more, it’s a great time to get together as family and friends. Worried that it will be expensive or are you stuck on meal ideas? Here are some ideas on how you can prepare and save for your next fiesta (and not just for this weekend). Preparing for the Fiesta If you’re having a lot of people over, you may be able to save some money by buying in bulk. You can get the plates, utensils, and food cheaper than with your regular grocery store (plus have some party supplies for future parties this year). I discovered that my local Dollar Tree had some great decorations and favors. The price was perfect for my budget and the kids had a great time. Don’t buy your pinata, go ahead and have some fun creating your own. It’s easy and inexpensive plus you make something special for your friends. Hosting Your Fiesta Fajita Bar Dinner doesn’t have to be complicated, in fact it can be a breeze. Make it even easier on yourself and host a fajita bar. Your friends can pile it on as much as they want. Simply season your meat and veggies and throw them on the grill. Ask your friends to bring over their favorite toppings. If you want to save money without burning a whole in your pocket, you can tenderize less expensive cuts of meat ahead of time without sacrificing taste. Serve Up Tapas Can’t decide on what to make for everyone? Serve several tapas and let them choose. You can grill some chorizo, garlic and lime shrimp, or sizzle some steak. Empandas are easy to make and you can add whatever filling you personally enjoy (my favorite? spicy pork). Go Vegetarian For those looking to skip on the meat, there are plenty of great Mexican dishes that you can prepare that will wow your guests. Keep things in your budget and buy local and seasonal. Margaritas Don’t feel like cooking much? Have your friends over for margaritas instead. Go ahead and mix it up with different takes like mango, pomegranate, or jalapeno. You can have nachos on hand to take care of the munchies. Don’t forget to have water and other non-alcoholic drinks available for any friends who are designated drivers. Frugal Fun I hope you have a great time with your family. I’d love to hear your ideas on throwing frugal and fun fiesta. What are your plans this year?
