  1. I thought Vermont had extended deadlines too. We were flooded by severe storms and were designated a disaster area by FEMA. Do we have extended deadlines?

    • Hi Lory, For tax year 2024 (the taxes you are likely filing now) Vermont does not currently have an extended deadline. You can search by year or by state directly on the IRS disaster relief page.
      Hope this helps!
      Sincerely,
      Katharina Reekmans

  2. Thanks for this. I live in Los Angeles County and owe quite a bit of taxes for 2024, not to mention estimate taxes for 2025, so I may as well wait until October 2025. Is there anything I need to do to let TurboTax know I’m waiting? Or do I simply file (and pay) as usual in October (before 10/15)? I use TurboTax Home & Business on my desktop. Thanks.

    • Hi Erik,
The IRS announced relief in the form of an extended deadline until October 15, 2025 for individuals and businesses in all of Los Angeles County due to the wildfires and straight-line winds. This means the October 15, 2025 deadline applies to tax returns and payments normally due April 15, 2025. If you are in Los Angeles county this extended deadline is automatic.
      Hope this helps!
      Sincerely,
      Katharina Reekmans

      • Thanks. I understood that. Just making sure I didn’t need to do anything on the TurboTax side of things. I’m guessing not. I’m ready to file, but I’m just going to save everything on TurboTax, and jump in before October 15.

  3. I started my taxes, unfortunately I have vertigo. Where can I get federal and Maryland extension form. I am just unable to get my paper work together.

    • Hi Patricia, If you need more time to file your tax return, you can file an extension though today April 15,2025 to give you until October 15,2025 to file. Remember this is an extension to file and not an extension to pay if you owe taxes.
      Hope this helps!
      Sincerely,
      Katharina Reekmans
