    1. Hi Betty,
Yes, time is running out to file for a refund if you are eligible. April 15, 2019, is the last day to file your original 2015 tax return to claim a refund. If you received an extension for the 2015 return then your deadline is October 15, 2019.

      Hope this helps.

  1. Turbotax won’t let me file for free even though i’m taking the standard deduction. I’m pissed they wasted my time and won’t ever do taxes through turbotax again. They are flat out lying.

  2. Why isn’t turbo tax federal free anymore? I’ve been with you for 5 years and it’s getting too expensive I might try some other internet program this year.

  3. This is Not so-I filed today for fed and state and it was a simple return -no extras- no itemizing and I paid 119. for FED 39.99 for state and an additional 39.99 processing fee to get direct deposit-so $200.00 Total

  4. Not true on absolutely free filing. VERY Disappointed in this product and the false promotion. Poor. will never use and will attempt to share this review wherever and whenever anyone asks about it.
Was sold a “free” product for $39.99. Terrible. then I was told couldn’t back up on it. Poor way to do business

  5. I found out that I should just take standard deduction, why is turbo tax not letting me switch my return back to free instead of trying to charge me 39.99 for deluxe

  6. I went on your FREE site…entered very BASIC info…I am a college studednt with a W-2 earnings less than $5000.00 from my Summer Internship in NYC. After completing info, you site is now telling me that I have to UPGRADE and PAY $119.95 for your Deluxe package…WHY?

    1. Hi Tom,
If you qualify for a free federal return with TurboTax Free Edition you would qualify for a free state return, but if you use deluxe your state tax return is $39.99.
      Best,
      Lisa Greene-Lewis

      1. I am 71, have social security, part time employment, and annuity income. I own my home. Can I file free? Thanks so much!

      2. I am 66 years old and have filed the last 2 years with Turbo Tax free edition (both Fed & State), and it’s been great. I’m not sure if your age is a factor, but definitely your Income is because the Max income is in the 34,000 range to qualify for free edition. So its for low income customers. I know I was complaining 3 years ago when I was paying for the tax programs that just kept increasing in cost. Ten years ago they were $20. The alternative is finding hard copy tax forms locally but that was almost impossible. Anyways, thank you Turbo Tax!

  7. How do I file for refund on property taxes on my mom’s estate that I pay I haven’t filed them because I don’t know if they still do this . I’m disabled and it has been. Serval years ago I did this but I can’t remember where to start I have nothing else

  8. I used turbo tax free ceiling software and it cost me $119 out of my refund. If I wanted to exile and get direct deposit I would have to upgrade for o my $39.99 but it ended up costing me additional fees totaling $119.00. I contacted turbo tax rep and they told me there are new fees attached if you exile or use direct deposit and when I contacted a rep about this they said there nothing they could do to get my money back.

  9. I didn’t know you had FREE filing for the past four years. Last year I subscribed to your turbo tax on line after having bought the cd for at least 15 years in a row. You began with a statement of “we see that in previous years you have used turbo tax deluxe although I had NEVER bought nor needed turbo tax deluxe. I thought it would rectify itself at the end but it did not. I was charged for turbo tax deluxe – $65.99 plus tax although I only needed turbo tax standard for $35.99 I wrote a letter to corporate office BUT NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY. Can you respond to this please?
