Reply Hi, Lisa. I do not like to download internet stuff, but I did purchase the TurboTax Fed/State Home and Business edition for around a hundred bucks. Since Turbo gets the money from my purchase anyway, how can I participate in the bonus amazon card event? I think you are discriminating against those of us who want the hard disc.. Can we get an amazon card as well? Please advise. Thanks, dianne ________________________________ Reply What’s going on here? I see no responses from Turbo-Tax ), or “Lisa”, for any of these very excellent questions. Need far more specificity about exactly how this works and how any data from a buyer will be used. Reply The limitations say $2000 limit per e-card, $10,000 per customer. If I have 10,000 federal refund, can I get 5 e-cards of 2000 each? Reply Yes, per TT website, that’s exactly what would happen. Reply Edit: If it’s $2000 max per ecard and you get a $2000, do they add 10% so you get $2,200 or do you have to get a $1818.18 gift card so after they add 10% it comes out to be $2000? Reply If it’s $2000 max do they add 10% if you get a $2000 gift card or do you have to get a $1818.18 gift card so after they add 10% it comes out to be $2000? Tricky! Reply I was thinking the same thing as “Interested but Skeptical.” It says Amazon.com is not a sponsor, so who is kicking in the extra 10%? It appears that it must be Intuit, or some other party who’s willing to pay for the data. So that worries me about what’s being done with my data. I’m waiting to see a response from Intuit about Interested but skeptical’s post. Reply About all I’ve found so far is this: https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2102922-how-does-the-amazon-gift-card-work which says that the money is sent to an associated bank which takes out the money for the gift cards, then deposits the rest. I’m not comfortable with this process, so I’m not going to do it. They certainly have better ways to verify I shopped with them and I qualify and then provide an independent offer. Seems like Intuit is cashing in on having your money and your data. Reply On the filing screen it says “We’ll use some of your tax information in order to make sure your correct refund amount is processed for your e-gift card” and “We authorize Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, to use the information provided in this 2013 return to determine whether we are eligible to purchase an Amazon.com Gift Card and receive the associated bonus.” What this DOESN’T say is WHAT information you’ll have access to and what will be done with it and for how long, nor does it allow us to say that our consent is only good for a limited period of time (less than the 1 year stated on the same page). This makes me uncomfortable that Intuit will be doing other things with my data and/or will be doing some level of data mining. I don’t like the idea of my confidential information being involved. I understand that you might know how much the refund is therefore allowing me to qualify, but I do not like the idea of Intuit stepping more in between me and the federal government. So how is the rest of my refund paid? Does Intuit pay it? Does Intuit get authorization to receive my refund first? etc. How does that work. I won’t sign anything until you explain the process a little further. Reply Awesome. Reply way too hard to switch back and forth between email and blog I have security settings that do not include this option I thought on-line chat might work, but gotta find best way to just LOGIN and do a 1040 for the 2013 filing Reply Oh ok, it is for TurboTax Deluxe Reply strange but seems calculation error from Turbo. In below statement, “For example, if you are using TurboTax Deluxe, you can use $500 of your tax refund to receive a $550 Amazon.com Gift Card.” In this, it should be $525 as 5% of $500 is $25. Can I trust turbo Tax with my tax calculation? Happy to be corrected. Reply I got my federal refund deposited today and did the $2,000 so I should get $200 because I used deluxe. Kinda nervous after ready this because I didn’t think of all these things and I haven’t received on single thing from anyone regarding the Amazon offer I did. Reply Cam, I’m worried now, as well. Luckily, I only requested a $100.00 gift card to use as an Anniversary gift for my daughter. I got the email on Feb. 12, telling me that I would have the gift card code in 24 to 48 hours but its been more than 72 hours and I haven’t received a thing in regard to that code. I will use Turbo Tax again next year, but won’t gamble with a dime of my money this way again! Did you ever get your code? You get 5% extra if you use some versions of TurboTax and 10% extra if you use others. “If you are using TurboTax Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business or Military Edition you will receive an extra 10%.” Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply
