Everything is better when you add the right company and best friends definitely count as some of the best company. With so much going on, time can slip by and before you know it, it’s been months since you and your friend have caught up. Instead of feeling guilty, why don’t you two make plans to spend some time together?
National Best Friends Day is a reminder to cherish those special to you. What better way to do that than doing something fun together? Stuck on ideas? Here are a few of my favorites:
Weekend Getaway or Summer Vacation with Your Best Friend
Going with your buddy also has the added bonus of saving you some money. You can split the hotel and/or the rental car. Use the drive up as a way to update one another about what’s been happening.
Some great spots to check out this summer:
- Asheville, NC
- Chicago, IL
- Santa Barbara, CA
- Yosemite National Park
While last minute getaways can be fun, if you want to score the best deal, give yourselves some time. Use travel sites like Priceline to make bids on your hotel and car. We’ve saved 30-40% on our expenses going this route. Make the ride there fun by planning out stops to explore places and discover some roadside diners with fantastic food.
Looking to go out of country, but stay within budget? See if either of you can get some discounts on trips with your current memberships (like AAA or veteran). Again, splitting the cost will save you big money and you’ll have the added bonus of making memories together while you travel.
Challenge Each Other
Finally, you two can take up a new hobby together. Swapping notes or stories can be a fantastic way to grow your friendship and yourself.
One of my favorite hobbies right now is home-brewing. It’s a great way to unwind and you two will be making something you can enjoy later. Why don’t the two of you join a local brew club? You may be able to get a discount on membership!
