IRS Announces E-file Opens January 19: Be One of the First in Line for Your Tax Refund

The IRS announced this week that it will begin accepting e-filed tax returns on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.  TurboTax will begin accepting e-filed returns starting January 4, and will securely hold them until the IRS starts accepting them on the 19th – putting you first in line for your tax refund! 

Last year, about 3 out of 4 of taxpayers received a tax refund, and the average federal tax refund was about $2,800. We know that your tax refund can make a big difference in your financial life, whether you need to pay down debt or want to save for an unexpected expense. With more than four out of five Americans preparing their tax returns with software, e-file with direct deposit is the fastest way to get your tax refund. The IRS anticipates issuing more than nine out of 10 federal federal refunds in less than 21 days!

  1. So if i do my taxes jan 3 2015 with turbo tax they will save my info and the start day jan 19 2015 my taxes will be one of the first to go through. Also is the ira doing any test and taking any taxes earlier than jan 19 2015. I did them jan 1 so i guess im a wait ro see what happens. Turbo tax said i have a good start now i have to wait till my forms come then i will be finished. They will email when the form come ak they can finish
