"The poor pays the taxes, get nothing" - are you serious? Almost half of the people pay NO federal income taxes, and those are not just rich people who use loopholes. I AM a taxpayer. My taxes help provide food stamps, education, police protection, medical care, housing etc. for folks on assistance. I don't mind it for veterans or for those who need a temporary safety net. My problem is with the entitlement lifestyle and those who expect freebies without taking responsibility. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting worse, as those on the receiving end continue to vote for those who promise to continue or increase benefits, i.e. "buy" their votes. The system's broke and broken.

First of all, there aren't many tax breaks for the wealthy unless they come from either old money or you coulnt the capital gains tax. Yes the tax is capped at 35% but due to AMT they pay a considerable amount of taxes. Work uniforms are deductible if they can only practically be used for work i.e. a mcdonalds uniform is deductible, but your business casual office clothes are not. It is on schedule A - and it is subject to the 2% floor which means that if 2% of your income is higher than your job expense deduction plus other misc expenses subject to the 2% floor (tax prep fees, safety deposit box fees, investment fees etc.), you can't take it anyway. I don't know about school uniforms. I suggest you go to the IRS website and search for guidance.
