The downloaded version will not work on my XP machine. I have installed, uninstalled, repaired, uninstalled, reinstalled, you name it and I am at wits end. The main problem is the app will not launch after download. I get the, “TurboTax has encountered a problem and needs to close.” error message. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have used it over the past few years with absolutely no problems. This year however it has been a continuous headache. It doesn’t say anywhere on the box (purchased at COSTCO) that it won’t work with dial-up. OK, so we’re living in the past with our dial-up – it’s not a crime, but it is a problem. I have had to go to friends houses and tech centers just to prepare our taxes. Also, when I thought I was finally finished I found mistakes. I don’t know who was doing the programing for 2010 TurboTax, but they should be fired. Next year we are not using TurboTax, we are paying someone to do them for us. Good-bye and Good Riddance TurboTax. You were once a God-send but are now a nightmare.

THE SOLUTION WAS PRESENTED BY THE TT TECH – PURCHASE AN UPGRADE TO MAC OS 10.6.3, SNOW LEPOARD ; WHICH I DID TODAY AND I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I NOW HAVE SPENT $90 FOR UNUSABLE TURBOTAX 2010 PREMIER (WHICH CLAIMS ON THE BOX IT WILL WORK WITH MAC OS 10.4!! AND HIGHER AND ALSO UPGRADED MY MAC FOR ANOTHER $30 AND STILL HAVE NO FORMS ON WHICH TO FILE MY TAXES!!

I would get the blue screen of death and an error message about a critcal system failure. No help from turbo tax support,I don’t even know if they actually exist.I had to save my tax files to an external drive every minute or two so I could have a reliable file to start over with after a crash.

The data collecting doesn’t follow the method used on the long form so it has to be resorted into the packets turbo tax uses. Then when it ir rejected it takes hours on hold to get help which still can’t resolve the problem. TS actually said they didn’t know whey it doesn’t work. They refunded my money, actually double billed my credit card. This isn’t the seamless integration of tax reporting they advertise. I have spent 3 days trying to fix it and am now filing it long form manually. Thanks turdbo tax!

they do not have reciprical tax agreements.

So if you work in one state live in another.

It is extremely complicated to do the state portion. The employers never take enough out for

the state tax portion. Or they take it out for one state and not the other.

In the end you never get the right forms Its ahuge mess. IN and IL need to get together and fix it.

have every I dotted and t crossed.

And take advantage of every available deductable

item, no matter how obscure.

Just take the time to do it right and complete.

you may be surprised at how good you will feel

at doing a complete return, and if yours is too

complicated, get pro. help. Don’t be a cheapscake

when it comes to Taxtime.

I spend one day working on income, such as entering W2s and interest and investment income. The next day I work on my deductions. Then I do anything related to small business on another, then rental income, finally buying or selling a home. I spend the last day doing a review. I can usually then finish a difficult return in 1 week! Thanks TurboTax!
