Some other things people should realize if they cannot pay a dime to the IRS and would create financial hardship on their part, there are other options. The IRS can classify individuals as uncollectible and they will suspend attempts to collect until the financial situation of the tax payer has improved. You can also settle for less through an offer in compromise or a partial payment offer.
