Tax Payment Options from the IRS

The IRS sent out a reminder yesterday to file your return by the April 15 deadline and to pay as much as you can of any taxes owed.

In this reminder, they included some options for payment you should be aware about.

You can request an extension of time to pay at this website by completing an online payment agreement application or by calling 1-800-829-1040.  This may cause you to end up with less penalty and interest than an installment agreement.

You can request that installment agreement the same way, or you can get the form here but in addition to more penalties and interest, the IRS also charges a fee for setting up the installment agreement.

And last, but not least, you can pay with your credit card through your software or at the following two sites:

Link2Gov Corporation: 888-PAY-1040 (888-729-1040), https://www.pay1040.com/

Official Payments Corporation: 800-2PAY-TAX (800-272-9829), www.officialpayments.com
